I like zunes because they dont break as easily as ipods, I've had my zune for over a year- and i don't think that i know anyone who has had an ipod work for that long.

I totally love my zune, on a scale of 1-5 I'd have to say 7

im extremely happy with my zune. its really unique and i find that most of the ppl i met with zunes are really cool people. it looks great, big screen, and i love the way the software looks. im more about aesthetics because pmps are meant to play video and music and most of them do that well.

I'm very happy with my Zune. It does everything that it's supposed to. I only have one major gripe with the device, but I've said it so many times that I think everyone here already knows.

I'm happier than I have been. Over spring and summer of last year things for Zune were really bad. It seems like they are actually trying this time around and getting somewhere.

Default Like the device and new firmware but the software and cs...

I have the older version Zune 30GB Black (Purchased 11-09-07). I LOVE the device itself although it is a bit bulky, but a fair trade-off for the great battery life and screen size. The original software based off of WMP10 was very easy to jump into and the meta-data (or service?) may be the greatest thing ever created.

Then the new software came...

In my opinion the new software is the worst application I have ever used, period. I can't drag and drop from my Windows Media library anymore. Finding album art on amazon.com and pasting over old album art? Nope. You must save it as a *.jpeg to your desktop first. Dragging disassociated songs into one album? Nah. Right-clicking on songs to change their album, track number, year, album artist, etc? Sorry, not happening.

The new software took out everything that was good about the old version and made it a pain to do anything except buy songs from the Zune store. Basicially, making it more like iTunes, which I think sucks.

I call customer service after the new software demolished my current Zune library. The automatic information tool included with the new software took all 9 of my Led Zeppelin albums and changed them from correct names to "The Complete Recordings CD 01 - 11". But unfortunately, there were AT LEAST 2 different albums with the same name each containing some of the orignal album's tracks. This is just an example, it did it to almost every album.

So customer service has me download the Library Reset Tool and tells me to call back when it will be done (in 24 hours). I get off the phone and it was done in 5 minutes, (Liars). I call back and explain what just happened and they tell me I need to download it again because the tool disassociated my library even further. So, I do it again... and it does nothing. Then I'm told to change a couple of zune files to a .old format to retrieve the old library data. It also does nothing. Next they tell me this is the only documented case that wasn't resolved using these two methods. Then I'm told the only option is to sort all of my computer's music in Windows Media Player 11 and import that data into the Zune library.

So I had to reorganize all of my music into WMP-11. It took me about 3 hours. I call back about a day or two later and tell them I have organized my music in my WMP-11 library like they told me to. And now I need the steps for getting the Zune software to recognize the WMP meta-data and assortment.

Here is what they told meto do.

1. Go into WMP library.
2. Choose the song you want to add and right click.
3. Left Click Open Containing Folder
4. Right Click on song inside the source folder
5. Select open with Zune
6. Repeat for all 137 albums in my library.

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?!
They told me it was like a one-click affair to import a library from WMP-11 to the new Zune software.

Every customer service rep I spoke with seemed like they were undertrained and unfamiliar with both the software and hardware itself. And everything they told me was just recited word for word from microsoft.com's customer support page.

Although I was calm and patient all four times I called they each gave me the impression that they would like it if I didn't call back. I felt as though they were rushing through the motions rather than actually trying to help resolve the issue.

The final piece of advice I recieved from customer service was to find a forum that would have a "Hack" to revert to the old version of the software. So here I am, any ideas would be greatly appreciated?

I've only had my Zune 2 80 for 3 days but I love it! I don't miss my iPod at all. I just wish finding a case for it wasn't so difficult, I've been to 5 different stores and the only one I've been able to find is the ugly brown leather one. No thanks.

I can't believe I'm going to say this out loud, but I really haven't used mine. I am clumsy and like to drop things, so I keep it protected (aka, don't use) until I get a case. I have put a few movies on it and have to say I'm very happy w/ the quality and the colors are amazing. If I ever fly, I'll be set lol

of course i am happy, but maybe they should bring it out around the world so ppl like me can get things for it. Just the zune 30 is a little bit on the big side. otherwise it is heaps better than an ipood

My only problem with the new software is that it resembles Windows Vista. It takes up all your memory, and is horrible. It has taken OUT features rather than adding new ones, much like the transition between WMP 10 and WMP 11(Seriously, who thought of the ingenious plan to take out the Artist and Song Name display while listening to music?)

Zune Software 2 makes me wonder why everything from Microsoft now has to take up all your memory. Just think about WMP 12 (Consumes 2 GB of memory! Permanently caches it until reboot! This is living!)

Jd4oor is smart. Zune Software 2.0 sucks. At least Pity is making a Zune Service Provider Alternator.. In fact, I think I'll go give him some rep for making it.

I adore my zune. I have a brown/30 and its on me at all times. I am VERY happy with the UI and, aside from random re-boots (which are rare for me, i only had my first one in a LONG time happen yesterday, and it was when i paused a podcast, odd) and the lack of decent Audio Book support (audible maybe, or if they'd just make a new menu option like "Podcasts," and yes, i know i can label them as podcast :p), i really effin like it.

And... whenever the firmware gets hacked... i can't wait to see the possibilities of the wifi use *evil grin*

So, i give it two thumbs up. Oh, and as a bonus, the "scratch resistant" sides are amazing! They get a scratch and it wipes right off. LOVE IT! (especially for being as clumsy as i am)
