All the good stuff

I've noticed a lot of complaints about the new software. And they're all completely warranted, and in all cases I agree. However it seems that no one is ever willing to point out the good things in life, and everyone is so cynical.

The things that make me happy about the new software:

hang on lemme open it. There's the number one improvement. It opens much faster than the old software without modification.

It's so freaking simple. I think that it gets some negative remarks due to this though. Everyone complains about not being able to drag and drop, and not being able to do all the great things you could in the old software. But I find that the simplicity makes everything a lot easier to find, and use. There are only a couple important features that the software doesn't have, and they're both related to editing metadata.

The three menus. They're my favorite part. I can select an artist, see all the albums and songs by them. Before everything was kind of hard to find, and didn't having to change the view from "songs" to "albums" to "artists" was bothersome.

When you're listening to a song, but you don't know the name or artists. Just go over to where the info marquees across and click it to view the next bit of info. So if you Don't care the the composer is, and you want to find the name just click the info and it will change.

I with they could have integrated the now playing a little better, since it's in it's own separate page. But I like the way they used it. I just wish there was a better way to edit the now playing list without having to use a playlist.

The browse and list options are something that I think most people completely overlook. That's the easiest way to edit album info with the new software. Go into list and select how you want the songs to be sorted, find the album or artists or song that you want to edit then right click the column with the info that needs to change and change it. The only problem is that you cannot edit more than one at once

I think the best new feature is the innovative quick search added to the software. You simply just start typing and it finds what you type.

I like the new software, But when I go on a downloading spree and have to edit all my info I still have to rely on WMP11 and it's metadata service to edit my tracks.

If they had created there own software pretty much like the old it would've been better in my opinion b/c im not one to like all the frilly things, i would rather it work efficiently that look cool and fail, but yes its nice to pint out the good.

i like the 3 menu's part as well, but i wish it was possible to add genre on there...

i dont like to search for stuff in the list option, sluggish for me.

Also... I'd like to add that the new way that it shows syncing items is a lot better. It would be good if they had a percentage for individual files though.

It's pretty simply. Things that were just added show up under the just added list that you can click. things that are pending to sync are in the syncing list. And it shows the name of the file being synced right under the giant picture of the zune.

The new bar that shows how much space you have is much better too, and easier to understand... can anyone explain what the orange meant on the old software? Anyway the best part about this is that you can enqueue items to be synced instead of having to wait for everything to finish, add something and sync again, you can just drag a new video or podcast to the zune icon.

Also the tabs system for the collection and device is very nice, and a lot easier to use than the old system.

i wish they would seperate the music by artists into albums...how they use to do it. that was one feature that i liked the most. i cud find an artist...and then see all the songs split up into the albums i had
