Zune 2 80gb no Equalizer
Hey guys,
I am a long time reader, first time poster. I just bought the new 80gb Zune but I cannot find any traces for an equalizer. I've looked online, through manuals and I cannot figure it out.
I hope Microsoft will fix this because I usually tend to like more bass and treble in my songs. Otherwise this new mp3 player is great. The sound quality is way better than the Ipods but without equalizer controls its like having a Ferrari and driving it in city traffic.

I was wondering about the equalizer, I haven't played with mine much yet, but had not seen or heard anything about an EQ.

They removed it due to it being too much of a drain on battery combined with wireless sync.
So no EQ.

What the hell? They could have just given us the option to turn it on and off. Personally I will never be using the wireless sync. I will continue evaluating this product for the next 2 weeks but if there is no firmware update adding the option then I may return it.

On your zune try this:
Settings>Music>Equalizer

It's not there. I have 3 options on that screen. :shuffle:repeat:artists
No trace of an equalizer.

I just noticed something else. The Dpad is off center. It is slightly rotated or something but its pretty UGLY once you notice it.

Here is a picture. See how it is slightly off center? I wonder if that was a manufacturing mishap?

I talked to Zune customer support and they said that EQ was an option that was not wanted by the customers they polled!
Also they went ahead and measured the 80gb Zune themselves and they said yes its slightly skewed and thats how it is supposed to be. What the hell? Doesn't Microsoft know that symmetry sells!??!?!?

Thats got to be the most stupid decision Microsoft has ever made. An EQ is a must! I adjust my EQ all the time depending on what I'm listening to or watching. I don't understand why the Zune 30 has an EQ and the Zune 80 doesn't.. Do the flash Zunes have the EQ option?

I am hearing no. the 4, 8, 80 have NO EQ options. People are also reporting issues where the 30s are upgraded to v2 and the EQ sometimes randomly resets to "none"

I'm not going to recommend any of the new Zunes anymore. EQ is a requirement.
