Not to happy with the new software.

If you buy a new player then you should be good. But Zune 30 owners will find that the new software screws up the library on your player. I have cd's merged with other artist cd's. Half of my library is ruined and i don't know how i'm going to fix this. MS really needs to fix this asap or they will blow all the good hype they have got. Alot of unhappy Zune 30 owners out there.

i have had some screwed up album art but aside from that, no problems, I am on the whole happy so far.

I don't quite understand what you mean here. I have not updated yet, and may not depending on what this means.
You could always remove everything from the zune and re-sync. Sure its a pain, but wouldn't be too bad to correct everything.

I experienced a similar problem this morning, but I'm not unhappy. 81 songs in my library showed up under "Just Added". These 81 songs ended up merging with existing albums completely unrelated to them. For example: The Kanye West song 'Stronger' now is showing under Jay-Z's 'Kingdom Come' album.

Granted, after it finished syncing, I checked the settings and it was set to "update music automatically" or something like that, so I removed the filter. I'll just have to go back and either fix the tags on the songs or remove them all together and re-add them to my Zune 30.

All in all, I'm happy with the software, the interface is much smoother and I'm liking the Podcast support and wireless sync.

i can't drag and drop things in the device menu to be synced, i have to right click in the library and click on sync to device

. The over all GUI looks nice but there are defiantly " Bugs"

This happened with my library as well. Odd thing that happened also was I seemed to have lost a majority of my exclusive content that came on my Halo Zune. :/

Just wondering.. Once my Zune 30 gets here in the mail, is the new firmware worth upgrading it to, or should I stick with 1.4 for the time being?
[I'm new to the Zune myself, so I'm not sure which would be best]

I would update. There are new capabilities not available before. My zune 1 can now connected to my wifi network Draft N with WPA2. New interface. Like new machine really!!!

Zune30 with 2.2 firmware story is a pitiful one. C'mon Microsoft - how fundamental is it to sync with correct album art in the correct place? Sheesh. That's taken the shine right off the new update.

I've deleted all content on my Zune only for it to be as corrupted when re-syncing - even though my source folder is 100% correct!

Anyone that discovers a fix for this, I will duly snog. Not much of an incentive, I know...

the new software B-L-O-W-S. i've been fighting with it all morning, and still haven't made any progress. ALL of my albums were either mixed up, missing album art, or both....so i tried reverse syncing everything (which took FOREVER). still screwed up with no art. i've tried checking/unchecking the "automatically update album art and media information" like others have suggested, and nothing's changed.

Plus:

- you can't really tell how far you are in the syncing process. my songs were syncing, but the percentage just read 0%...i just had to wait for it to stop.

- you can't edit metadata.

- i tried downloading podcasts, but as soon as i suscribed to one, the software automatically downloaded over 600MB of old podcasts that i didn't even want....i still can't figure out how to keep it from doing that.

- i got tired of waiting for a video podcast to convert, so i cancelled it. now i have a "NOT ADDED" message on my device status screen that i can't get rid of.

- is there anyone that actually likes the new rating system?

so far, the only thing that's worked is the firmware update...which actually looks pretty cool.

Thank god for smart people. A guy on the social board found a simple fix for it. Just go to the zune software board and look for a post called..Fix for missing/mismatched album art. Its by a guy named Coffeepress. I don't know how to do linking so someone should post the fix here. Its an easy fix. Works like a charm.

I'm having problems with the 1.4 or whatever came on my 30... I had an iPod before, and transferred the songs from my iPod to my computer, then put them in my Zune library, and now it's really unorganized... I had everything perfect on my iPod and it took forever to get it that way, and now it's all screwed up on my Zune. I like the thing, it's awesome, but I think I'm going to have to redo all the song information... which is going to really suck. Anyone have any suggestions?

Once I started using the new Software I knew right away I liked the old version much better. I used parts of the character hack instructions to downgrade to firmware 1.4 and reinstalled the original software from the CD.

Hopefully they will improve the new software, but it is nice to know we can go back to the old, even if it is a bit of work.

Same problem, I've been erasing the albums that are mixed.

Luckily, it's not the stuff I listen to frequently.

I'll resync it later.

I thought it let you manually put things on. I had no idea the software was going to take every piece of junk on my computer and place it onto my Zune.

Yeah, besides a few albums with missing art (maybe 10% of my collection), everything seems to be fine. Granted, I haven't looked through all 900 albums to make sure they're correct, but from what I've seen, it's fine. I honestly had more of an issue migrating from iTunes to the original Zune software.
