Do You Realize....

In 38 days, we original Zune owners will move into the next phase of Microsoft's 'iPod killer or bust' campaign (yeah, I know that's more of a media distinction than MS's official stance)

But do you realize that's how long you have left with your current Zune? After that fateful firmware update, your Zune will become a whole new animal. It will sound the same, but will act in different ways many of us have only been dreaming about for quite some time.

After that day, we will start seeing new members who have no idea what the original Zune was like. Can you imagine if the Zune gets more popular with it's new software (which I think is the biggest and best part of all the new features coming in November) there maybe millions of new Zune owners that never used the original Zune Marketplace. They'll not know the original interface 1st hand (will the new interface have that distinctive click we've all come to know as we scroll through the menus?) They won't know what a 'double-shot' is. There may come a time where people may be like, "a brown Zune? Pshhhhh...yeah right..." Can you imagine?

We are coming to an end of what we've all known as Zune and entering a new chapter. A new Zune experience. I think that's saying something. We are the originals. We are the OGs. We are the ones that made this thing what it was, and will now be the ones to say, "I had the original Zune. I was there at the beginning."

Excuse me if I'm sounding a little too reflective or sappy, but that idea just popped in my head and I thought I should share this. Cherish these final days, guys....'cause Nov. 13th is quickly approaching. And while the new features will be awesome, it's sobering to think we will also be leaving behind something....

OG Zuners FTW!!

Well, we are basically entering into year 2 of the Zune campaign, I guess it is going to be different.

wow....we gonna have more nubs joinin :P,that cool,more the merrier,cant wait for new update,hopefully more battery consuming,need more than 4 hours on this baby,if u run it off no hold last a good while if ur jammin to music and dont click much,i click alot : /,but yeah,cant wait for new update like everyone else,hopefully they will keep strong with "zune 30" hehe and keep up to date with v2 zunes so we dont ahve to buy another one unless we want more space,i dont need anymore space so i be good

I don't wanna burst bubbles, but the Zune 30 is still going to be sold. I guess new Zune owners will never know of the old UI and Zune Marketplace and Zune software UI!

my friend doesnt even have a zune and he uses it over WMP and other software. just loves the look of it.

You can probably keep the old software and the old Zune Device Interface. The only question is if you can upgrade one but not the other.

Someone should upload some screenshots of the original marketplace and zune software, as well as the zune device software. And by someone I mean someone other than me, because I have no idea whatsoever as of how to do it
