Default C00D12F9 Error When Downloading Songs

Whenever I try to download a song through the marketplace I get a C00D12F9 error.
From what I can tell by searching the error code I need to reset my DRM but I can't seem to get it to work.

I've followed the instructions here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929642?sd=zune
but when I get to the point that I have to go here:
http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=34506

I click the button and it brings up a box that reads

"The file or device you are trying to use requires a component of Windows Media Player to be upgraded.
Click upgrade to download and install the required component"

and gives me the option to upgrade or cancel.
I click upgrade and receive the message

"The component could not be upgraded"

and then the program stops responding.

So what am I doing wrong? I really want to try out Zune Pass before the trial runs out.

I'm using the most recent version of the Zune software on Vista if that helps.

Default

I have the same issue on one of my computers that I am trying out Zune Pass with. I spent three hours on the phone on Sunday with the Zune Support technical staff. I would call them as they are genuine and great to work with and they give it their all. Even if you are on the 14 day free trial as I am. Seriously, they stayed and worked with me on the phone for three hours.

From what I can tell, something is corrupt on my one problem computer (it works on my other two, all running vista). Either Media Player 11 is corrupt, or Vista is corrupt. Not really certain. I checked my updates and all is well according to the history but I don't think that means squat.

Their support staff do have some "known issues" with the DRM problems that are unrelated to Zune Pass. Call the support number and see if the fixes they ran me through could possibly fix your issue. I do not think you are actually as bad off as I am based on what you wrote.

I will probably need to reinstall Vista or try to roll it back if possible to remedy my problem. Hope yours goes better.
