It's amazing to me that you make Apple out to be this great company and bash Microsoft. Apple's no better. Both companies employ extremely smart people and make good products. You think Apple makes superior products thanks to clever marketing. You've been brainwashed.

What's even more amazing is you're all about the 'underdog' Apple and have completely dismissed the Zune who's an underdog in itself. I can't wait when Zune 2.0 and flash Zune come out and begin rivaling Apple's share - which is far more likely than 15% Apple share of PCs.

Face it. Almost 100% of the business market is made up of Window's based systems (the most improtant segment of the market - forget about the Jones's home computer) and that's not going to go away anytime soon. And businesses would be far more ready to integrate Vista into their systems, than doing a huge overhall of hardware to Mac OS X.

While Mac's home computer sales are up and some figures say they're outselling PCs right now (again, due to their clever advertising) the world still runs on Windows. You're 15% is a dream.

I'm entirely confused as to how this article makes us 'fanboys'. I think if anything, it would make us intelligent people who were able to find this stuff, unlike you who comes here just to mess us about.

I think Microsoft is a fine company. I also think that Apple is a fine company. It's just that, at the moment, I do not have any hardware or software made by Apple, so I could care less what they do. On the other hand, I do own a $250 piece of equipment made by Microsoft that I would like to see get much better in the future, because right now, it's not that hot.

I found the lack of podcast support in the Zune program to be a very stupid move by Microsoft. Why, when trying to establish a customer base of iPod users, would you leave out this very popular iPod function? Well, guess what? They didn't:

This makes even less sense. How would apple sue microsoft for using podcasts? Maybe I'm misunderstanding this quote, tell me if I am. But apple does not own any aspects of podcast in any way. They don't even own the name. The name just got popular because of the ipod.

And this dominiej guy seems to be completely against apple. He starts talking about how apple pc's only have a certain amount of the market, when we're just talking mp3 players here.

We all understand that microsoft's products are more successful, but that doesn't make them better. I'm not saying that applies to all of microsofts products, because I personally think windows is better than os x. But right now, the ipod and itunes is better and more successful than the zune and zune marketplace.

dominiej is completely convinced the zune is the better product apparently. But I prolly shouldn't have called ALL of you fanboys as people like pityonyou doesn't seem that bad.

Its a stupid Microsoft fanboy thing to say. Most people who say that, Don't actually have a reason to hate Apple. I personally love Microsoft and Apple. Thats why my next notebook with be a Macbook with windows installed. Maybe I'll even try OSX as my main OS for a while. I don't set my life around one product or device.

in my opnion i say apples's OSX is a fine product but apple is cocky with their adversisment they want to brainwash the public to buy their products but they dont seem to realize they cant take the computer world anytime soon if microsoft has a chance to release these items inside of their zune it might cause lawsuits give them time they will come out eventually
while the iPhone i agree watching videos then switching to a phone is a bad idea that battery will be gone but i dont know if the battery life will be better because the iPhone is a flash drive i just dont know

The IM thing is probably for Xbox Live Integration, like the Friends list... since you can stream to your Xbox 360 (has anyone tried this yet, I have one but rarely use it for music streaming, as it crashes the Xbox 360 when it tries to load my 13,000 songs!!!! into a viewable list to choose what to listen to). so you can check and see if your friends are on, what device they are using, and what game/vid/song they are playing.

I would not be supprised to see the Wi-Fi get more features over time as it is their main selling point on the Zune. and it is possible to get some reprieve on the 3x3 (not a 2x4!!!) but it might only be like a 10x30 (plays x days) or 5x30. liek a demo software proggy. because they can't let you share media, I mean HELLO!!!! Napster ring a bell to anyone? but I don't think you will ever see a web browser on the zune. possible wireless sync and marketplace (which I and most people used the mods to remove). there is a chance you cannot wireless sync, because they are afraid someone will hack it to allow "down-syncing" (sync to the PC) to transfer to another Zune instead of a PC, there by opening up wireless permanet file sharing, back to the Napster problem.

as far as Divx goes, there is no reason not to allow it on the Zune, Phillips has put it on EVERY DVD player they make now. its Xvid that will never show up on the Zune.

Apple can't sue microsoft for allowing AAC playback on the Zune, but Microsoft has to find some way to encode/decode AAC without reverse engineering the format, or else they will have to pay royalties to Apple (or who ever actually owns the copyright/patent on AAC) in order to use it on the Zune.

As for Podcasts, that was probably left out because they were saving it for the Wireless sync/enhanced Wi-Fi activation. as they can't give you something new to play with, without giving you something to do with it. You can already get podcasts and sync them to the zune, you just have to subscribe to them in a program (not itunes, although I am sure someone can figure out how to use itunes to do this) and sync the files to your Zune. Microsoft already does podcasting for Microsoft Partners, they call them "Partnercasts" and I think they have Webcasts for non-partners as well (I am a Microsoft Partner) It would not be too hard to firmware update the Zune to say "webcast" and update the Zune software to support subscribing to "webcasts"

So, I don't see too much of this as being impossible to do. Maybe they are waiting for the launch of Draco? or perhaps the Gen2 Zune? They wanted to get the system out and see what happens before devoting too much money and time on it, IMHO.

The Zune Does Play AAC Files. In fact, It can play AAC file all the way up to 225Kbps. No Conversion Required..

But Zune Marketplace will not pick up aac files. So how do you get them to your Zune??
