From the brushed aluminium, to the sleek front design, this mock-up of the new Zune is the one you might be seeing in stores this Fall (rumored). Just looking over the pictures posted over at Engadget makes your smile grow each time you flick through the pictures. All I keep reciting in my
head is, "Now this, this is the iPod killer."
Now of course, take this with a pinch of salt (Well, a handful of salt, for now) as it is only a mock-up and is from an "Anonymous Tipster," as Engadget put it politely. But of course, maybe they know something they shouldn't. Looking through the pictures you notice some features that have been discussed on nearly every Zune site. We need Touch! And this new Zune definitely fulfills this desire with what seems to be a 3inch Touchscreen, spanning from top to bottom. The sleek double-shot is back, with a smooth black border around the edge of the screen, and a button creeping in at the bottom (or maybe three? Small button then two left and right?). The idea (big screen, one button) does resemble the iPod Touch, but what touchscreen PMP doesn't? (That wants to compete, anyway.) Did I mention the name? "ZuneHD" Does this hint at anything in particular? Now of course it cant handle 1280 X 720 but this could mean High Definition Graphics (480 X 800) which is still a lot better than the 320 X 240 we have all been so humbly used to.
Again, these are only mock-ups by someone and should be taken lightly. But I know if this was to come out in the fall, with all the essentials that have been rumored (Like: Marketplace, Better file format support, Games, Apps and the rest) and is reasonably priced, this could be a huge hit on Microsoft's hands, and Apple will be trembling in their boots.
Be quick, as if this does reach shelves (Or something very similar) it's not going to be there for long!
