They probably said 4th Generation because the 16 GB Blue Zune was technically considered the 3rd Generation even though it was the same as the second gen but with more HDD.

The zunepad owns like nothing else, but would you really want it on something that already has a touchscreen?
:\
I know we're all used to it and so am I, but wouldn't it be more of unneeded than needed?
Just my view.
================================================== ======
And yeah, the real zune fans know it's the 3rd generation.

I will be adding bits and pieces to this as news is leaked.

Remember the year 2001, when Sony was the undisputed king of console gaming?
Microsoft then released the Xbox, which, while it didn't come anywhere close in sales numbers, still sold 24 million units, putting it in second place.
Fast forward to now. They're in last place. Why? They got complacent and thought that people would pay lots more money for the name "Playstation."
Remember 2006, when Apple was the undisputed king of the PMP market?
Microsoft then released the Zune, which, while it didn't come anywhere close in sales numbers, has now sold over 3 million units, putting it in second place in PMP market share.
Stranger things have happened. I say, go Microsoft! I'm always for competition in the market. If this is real, and it's a compelling product, I'll buy it. I've been very satisfied with my Zune 80, so I'm definitely willing to stick to the brand.
Update 2: We made a bit of a mistake. While generally every year since their launch there has been some type of revision, this is technically the third gen model, not the fourth.
So they fixed their mistake on saying it was generation 4
That thing is absolutely epic, assuming that design will be released. I will buy three of them, one for my alter, one for personal use and an extra for epic awesome.
I am absolutely satisfied with my black 80gig zune. As I am living in London I hope they go international as well - maybe I would then give the zune pass a go. No matter what I am getting the new zune!!

I live in Dorset and trust me, if thing doesn't come out here, I'm still getting one.
Of course this Zune is going to be the one that goes international as hinted earlier, but where internationally?
I like the look of the new one. And most likely will get one.
But I am wondering if the new firmware will leave the current models behind. Kinda Apple-like.
