Marketplace downtime later tonight

Just heard from Brian Seitz from the Zune Insider (yes the same one the told us about the news update) about some downtime scheduled for later tonight.

I hope that this is going to be the first step towards a new update for Zune. hopefully they wont change much, like the shift between first and 2nd generations.

I don't think though that this will just be for maintenance because we have been using the same version for so long now that they wouldn't just now be finding things wrong with it, or they would have fixed it a long time ago.

The Music Trivia game, initially discussed last year, is also included in this update. You can create music quizzes, linking to the music you're talking about. Looks like it might be fun - I'm not aware of music-related quizzes with previews on any other social networking site out there now.

Damn! I was in the middle of DLing a bunch of new tracks and it suddenly just stopped transferring files. I've got a few hundred downloads pending. Looks like I'l have to write these down so I'll remember them. You would think they would have something posted on the site, similar to what eBay does when it is down for maintenance. Damn you MS!!

I am logged onto the Zune tag but it wont show any activity for my Zune, so no recently played, although my some of my friends have activity. I can download music/videos now though. nothing updated that I can see though.

it'd be cool if, like friend's channels, music quizzes could be downloaded to the zune. that would provide some entertainment, and i think it'd be good for the social aspect of the zune.
