ZuneBoards has come across some interesting news. It seems certain retailers are telling people the current Zune models are starting to be discontinued. But for what reason?
For anonymity purposes, exact details have been left out on purpose as to protect all parties involved (no one needs to lose their job over this right now), but know that the info can be corroborated.

zB member's family was told by a major electronics retailer that the Zune was being discontinued. Discontinued? Well, knowing this couldn't be true, he went out and found a direct line to a Microsoft employee (an upper level employee directly involved with Zune). What they told the
zB member next may shock you!
The MS employee made it clear that Microsoft
was not discontinuing any Zune models, but told him the new TouchScreen Zunes are on their way, which could be why the store employee said that!
Can anyone in the electronics retail business confirm the slowing of Zune supplies or new models on their way? The MS employee may have been simply trying to ease the
zB member's feelings, but why with such a story? Couldn't the store employee just thought wrong like most of the internet has been lately (Zune's dead??)?
Take a healthy dose of salt with this, as with any rumor, but this does raise the eyebrow a bit.
