Microsoft rebuts report on Zune, says it will bring service to more devices

Microsoft Corp., whose Zune has failed to dent Apple Inc.’s iPod business, said it’s committed to the media player and is working to bring the Zune service to mobile phones, televisions and set-top boxes. “We are going to be in the hardware business going forward,” Adam Sohn, Microsoft’s marketing director for Zune, said Monday. He was responding to a Financial Times report last week that said Microsoft seemed “all but ready to throw in the towel” on the Zune.

I agree... I think it will be around October 2009... if the past is any indication as to their production schedule. The only reason the 2nd Gen Zunes came out in November (instead of October as originally leaked) was due to a rumored faulty cable in the Zune 80s....

hmm.. hopefully the next gen zune will be better looking.. and hopefully they have more support but either way i won't be getting a zune >.> lol. the pictures might release during summer... if it release in octoboer or november.

New news on the Zune will be held at an exclusive Microsoft event so that it doesn't have to deal with CES and Macworld.

Said it last time in the sB, expect to hear and see news on anything Zune related when we have another big Microsoft event or even like the last couple of times at a Microsoft Zune event.

ya the CES keynote was kind of depressing when steve ballmer only told us that there were only more customers, he spent a whole like 10 seconds talking about zune
oh well my bets are on a late spring announcement and early fall release

of course this always happens to me... Right when I buy the 120 zune a new one is coming out right lol when I buy the 360 a price drop happens few months later

like when i bought my zune 30... the 80 came out about a month or two than later... but as a noob zuner, i had not heard anything about it..

I got a Zune 120 for Christmas, and now i am hoping that if a really good Zune comes out that it will not obsolete by 8Gb and my brand new 120Gb.
However if a Zune touch comes out I will be waiting in like to get one of those buggers, no matter the cost. Especially if it is a cool reverse touch screen because those are freaking cool.

Does anyone else think this is gonna b too little too late? I mean I've had a zune 30 for years now and loved it, but i want something new. I want a touch screen player and i hate to have to leave zune but I have too. There are just too many other smaller players that are coming out soon like from samsung and sony. I just wish they let us know what was going on like if they are gonna make a touch screen player soon.
