Default New Zune Features Exposed!


Zune fans: you may have a lot to cheer about very soon! Fry's Electronics has unwittingly published an insight into what we can expect in the very near future from Zune! FM radio tagging, use of wi-fi hot spots, and games to name a few!

Yup, the Blue Zune 8 made its debut on Fry's and with it, they've posted what some new features will be! The new color (which BTW they say is IN STOCK) looks awesome, but next to the features, makes it even better! At least four new features are expected (but there could be more... and then there's the new features expected software-wise):
  • Buy from FM
  • Listen to your favorite FM radio stations and click to tag the songs you like for later purchase when you sync your device with your PC1.
  • Device to Cloud
  • Access thousands of wireless hotspots around the country to automatically update your collection, browse Zune Marketplace, refresh Channels, exchange favorites with friends, or buy songs you've tagged from your FM radio.
  • Channels
  • ZuneŽ Channels are custom programming stations that deliver personalized playlists to your ZuneŽ from a variety of sources you select, such as music experts, celebrities, or top radio stations.
  • Games
  • Games rock on your ZuneŽ. ZuneŽ Players now come with a selection of fun free games to choose from. Play the popular poker game Texas Hold'em or challenge yourself to a game of Hexic, and make sure you play your favorite song from your collection to create your own personal game soundtrack.

Who needs to pay for satellite radio to tag songs now? Microsoft is making it easier and easier to find and grab music for FREE! And thousands of wi-fi stations ready for you to refresh your music? Now that's putting the wi-fi feature to better use! And just think - EVERY Zune will have these features - not like that 'other' player that reserves features like these to its high-end 'touch' model (which you have to pay for an update - All Zunes will get this update FREE!!). I'm still on the edge of my seat about the new software features...They're rumored to be as big, if not bigger!

Does it means OUR music collection or something related to marketplace thing.

I can't imagine how would you transmit huge collections to the Cloud to be practical.

I wonder how the official games will look like. I know all of us here have a high standard since the user submitted games look great so far.

So with two new zunes in September, will there be a November Zune? Or will we just get it early?

When I think about it I don't know why anyone would buy an iPod other than the Touch (which is super expensive for no space).

Yep, Zune now has everything but a touch, which I am hoping for cause I bet they would do it correctly.

Will this feature be available on all Zunes from now on? If you have a 30gb or an 80gb, do you just need an update of some sort?
