Yeah, it sucks that the Zune took 4 of the 5 rounds, but got robbed of the glory because of compatibility. Nonetheless, as c|net notes:

The based the final result on overall points. In the four categories that Zune won, it won by just single point. But in the category that it lost - compatibility - it was under by four points. Hence the draw.

Even if the Zune80 would have came ahead, The iPodC would have still been right behind it. These 2 devices are so similar in so many ways. For every positive feature one of the devices has, it has a lacks in another area. The iPodC allows full access to its HDD which is extremely convenient, but it has a small screen which isn't fun to watch videos on. Whereas the Zune80 allows no access to its HDD, but has a nice large screen. Or EQ+Basic functionality(iPod) Vs. Radio+Wireless Sync(Zune). This is actually a very good thing for the Zune.
P.S. I do agree, Zune80>>>iPod Classic(80GB).

Actually, if you think about it - compatibility is moot subject. For one, why would Microsoft worry about making Zune compatible with 3% of the global market share (talking about Mac computers)? Second, don't the majority of that 3% already have some form of dual boot to make them able to use 90% of the software? I really think this survey, among other things, is starting to tarnish c|net in my eyes...

I still trust C|net when it comes to most things. But for PMP reviews, They Suck! Probably the Worst around(IMO). Though Jame Kim(R.I.P.) did do a fantastic job. His review of the first Zune on C|net was a major part of my decision to get one. Quote:
I think having Wireless Sync and Radio should have brought the Zune80 in 1st place. But then again, there was no "Functionality/Features" category. ![]()
