this is a great idea. cut out the middle man, increase profits. how do you do this? give consumers a few more custom options that are exclusive.

although the mount of sales that are done tihs way will me minimal, it gives MS bragging rights, which are priceless.

..will more than just the 4 colors be available? if not then this is just a stupid gimmick. i'm not suggesting "custom" colors, just a wider array than would be available in retail

I don't think that there is going to be any other colors besides those that you would find in the store. I think the real focus of this option is the etched designs (which are amazing) and text on the back.
