Cool Should you upgrade to a Zune 80 from a Zune 30?

Are you thinking of upgrading to the new Zune 80? Well here are some points you may need to consider:

Benefits of upgrading:

-A big glass screen. This means less scratches and more shiny. The screen is 3.2 inches, and makes the Zune 80 quite the looker!
-The Zune Pad's touch sensitivity is faster and can make interfacing with the device a breeze!
-High-quality, premium earbuds for a deeper, richer, musical experience!
-It’s thinner and lighter, and has more storage. If you’ve filled your Zune 30 with music from your Zune pass, then a Zune 80 would be perfect!
-The buttons are made a little differently - they give a different feel to the device.
-The Zune Pad supports both touch and tactile feedback; it’s the best of both worlds! The touch sensitivity can also be turned off via the Settings menu.

Here may be some downsides to upgrading:

-The glass screen may crack. I’ve seen this in pictures of iPhones, which are also glass. I hope Microsoft uses stronger glass than what Apple has been using
-It’s a little more expensive than a Zune 30
-The bigger the screen, the easier it is to accidentally break it.
-If you are a current Zune 30 owner with many accessories, they will all work with the zune 80, but they may not match as well.
-The Zune 30 will get much of the functionality of the Zune 80 with the firmware update, so unless you're really dying for more space or really want that Zune Pad, upgrading would probably not be the best choice.

My Dad needs a DAP with more storage space as the 2nd Gen Nano can't cut it for him anymore so I was figuring on grabbing the Zune 80 for the increased storage and give my Dad the Zune 30 than move the Nano over to my Mom who would only listen to a couple of CDs anyways.

It's s atough call: may be a case of wait and see how the Zune 80 performs once it's released

I have to say that i prefer the matt finish of the 30 over the oh-so-common glossy finish of the 80

well i already solved this problem. i'm definately doing the upgrade. i got a few zunes from woot when they were $99 - $150 and i return them to best buy for store credit of $200. overall the difference between price paid and actual price is the price of a new zune.. so i guess you can say its free

with the remainder i bought halo 3 and SKATE, and still need to get guitar hero 3 and rockband

Im going to upgrade.

The primary reason i got the Zune 30 was the big, bright, beautiful screen. If they're making a new one that has a smaller boddy... but bigger screen... im all over that **** I am extremely careful with my Zune. Its always kept in the same case as my BOSE QC2 Headphones;
http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/zun...highlight=bose
PS: Yah they're amazing.

As for the touchpad... im not crazy about it. i really dont like touch sensitive devices. They annoy me. I'll be turning that off.

As for my old one, i'd love more then anything to give it to my father. I would like to be able to hook it up to his radio that he's got in his car. The FM transmitter bit isn't an option though. He hates the sound quality it provides. Need to find a way for direct imput.

I'm not, i love my black 30. And i still have 19 gigs free on it. All i'm waiting for is the new firmware and marketplace software to come out. I love my Zune. And i have all the extra accessories that are also black too.

Default Oh Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!

Pre-ordered the 80gb should be here in a couple of weeks. I have a black zune (working), a white zune (flashing logo), and will soon be the owner of the Z2. Salute

Has anyone actually seen the new 80s? It seems really stupid for Microsoft to change the screen from pastic to glass in order to be more scratch-resistant, but then to change the body from being matte (scratch-resistant) to being shiny, which will show all kinds of scratches.
Why would they do that? It's gotta be scratch-resistant, doesn't it?
