here's what I mean. On the ipod, you could scroll quickly and then instead of going from song to song really fast, you could go by letter. You could go up and down by letter as long as you kept you finger on the pad. Take it off so you can go from song to song again.

If the zune doesn't have something just like this with its new touch pad I'll cry.
I don't like how I have to hold down the button to go fast. I really hope this new touch pad gives more control over where you go in your library.
And depending on the speed you were moving your thumb/finger, The Faster or Slower it would scroll. Which is nice when your looking for a specific song. Most of the time you could land right on it.

Hold your tears Davey, The new Zune Pad on the new Zunes have a 'flick' feature meaning you just brush your finger up or down the Zune Pad, and you scroll through your library quickly. Have you seen my video? It shows that feature.

What I hope happens is a similar feature found on the iPod video 5.5 that as you scroll, the letter appears not unlike the original Zune's interface when you held down the D-pad.

I would still tend to use it as a D-Pad mostly out of habit. But I don't really see how it is like a click wheel. It is shaped differently and rather than moving your finger in a big circle you simply scroll down the page by flicking the page how you want (I wonder if there will be an option to invert the y axis)

Anyone know what the casing will be like? Ipod shiny scratchy, or zune 30 strach-resistent?
