Those do look spiffy. And I dig the layout. It's missing... a clock.

Is the white one a current version? No squircle and it looks the same.

No, it's like a comparison shot. To judge size, I'm guessing. Or, to show that there will, in fact, have the new firmware.

Paul Thurrot's winsupersite.com has a huge preview article on the Zune 2 where he tells us about a lot of important features and how they will work. They said apparently you will be able to sync wirelessly without being in a dock as I heard elsewhere but you will need to do it manually. And apparently the squircle is going to be touch sensitive....which is awesome because that is something i missed from the iPod....but no worries its clicking functionality will remain the same...

* The Zune Marketplace is officially adding DRM-free music support, launching with over a million DRM-free MP3 tracks. As we mentioned earlier, other details (like which labels, whether there is a DRM-free upgrade path is for users who've bought music with DRM, price differences, etc.) are not yet known.
* Zune Marketplace is also getting podcasts and music videos. (Great, but where's the real video content?)
* Microsoft is also launching Zune Social, a free online music community / social network (great, another social network!) which allows users to create...
* Zune Cards, which are web widgets not unlike Xbox's Gamer Cards. Zune Cards let other users track your most played and recently played music (updated each time you sync back to your host machine). Users can also sample music directly from someone's Zune Card.
* You can now share with others music that was shared with you.
* No, the Zune still doesn't analyze the tracks it shares, so Zune Pass unlimited customers still can't share music without DRM.
* But, at very least the Zune's 3x3 DRM no longer has a time limit. Same three play restriction, but it no longer has to be within three days.

I'm drooling over that Zune 80.. It looks super zexy. I want to buy one when they are released...but I would have to find someone to buy my 1st gen zune...any takers? lol

Yes! We can have the new firmware! That means I can keep my 30, which is plenty of space for me! Woohoo!
And MP4 support so I dont have to wait for it to convert.

I like a lot of the features for the Zune 2 but it looks to shiny for my tastes (and I bought a Zune because I didn't want to have to keep it in plastic wrap to keep it looking decent) and my Zune 1 works fine :S

This thing looks friggin awesome!!!

But I have to say one thing: Microsoft can give the "Zune 30" a brand new UI, podcast support, get rid of the 3x3 rule, and give wireless syncing capabilities in a firmware update, but they can't get a friggin clock? WTF?!

Still, AWESOME!!

I hope the ZuneCard feature keeps track of what music you listen to on the zune software on your computer and not just on your zune

i listen to pc music vs. zune music at like a 10:1 ratio

I think something that may have slipped through the cracks (Or I'm just hopeful/imagining things) is that the promotional video that was released (

) has pictures of the accessories boxes with French translations on them... Can anyone give a reason why they would be on there if it was only being released in the states???
