Patcher 2.0 is complete.

Requirements:
  • Windows XP
  • .NET Framework 2.0
  • A Zune

Instructions:
  1. Unplug your Zune.
  2. Turn off the Zune Software.
  3. Run the patch.
  4. Plug in your Zune.
Did it work?
  • If it said "Patched successfully", it worked.
  • Goto "My Computer" and double click on your Zune then on storage, and viola.

Did it work?
  • If it said "Patched successfully", it worked.
  • Goto "My Computer" and double click on your Zune then on storage, and viola.
  • Don't worry about there being two icons, it's normal. Both work, click the one you like best.

What now?
  • Make a folder and start dropping stuff in it.
  • Email yourself the link to the patcher so if you plug it in on any other computer you'll have access to it. (The link is better then the actual file, as as more info becomes available, newer versions will be available and always as the same name, so you can always just go back and re-download from the very same link)
What if it doesn't work?
  1. Open regedit
  2. Go to the location specified in the tutorial
  3. Take a screen shot (hit the print screen button near the top right corner of your keyboard)
  4. Open mspaint (start->run->type in mspaint and hit enter)
  5. Paste the screen shot (hit ctrl+v)
  6. Save it as a .jpg or something small (not a .bmp)
  7. Email me the picture (berdon(DOT)zune(AT)gmail(DOT)com)

about:
  • Utilizes the Registry mod (from www.ZuneBoards.com), created for people that don't want to fiddle around in their registry.

I personally don't approve of this program until I see the source.

Well, happy you don't approve heh.

Removed to cut down thread size. PM me if you want the code.

It was a quick job, few comments and stuff. If you want to see the .resx or anything else then say so.

For the how to "add files to your zune " portion, is their a better way yet?
Also will you have to reg edit other computers if you want to take stuff off their computer?
As well as can you take stuff like mp3s and videos off of the zune?

Unfortunately, that is the only way of adding files right now. And yes, you can take stuff like mp3s and videos off your zune.

Looks fine to me. I'll allow it to stay. However, I'd prefer direct contact with our site before our stuff gets released in to a compound registry file next time, thanks.

Eh well, I won't rob you of your rights to claim credit as I can't prove otherwise.

Ok, thanks. Looks like a helpful little app.

I'm removing those few posts so as to keep this thread nice and spiffy.

Its ok, but I am sure you can understand why a few of us are a little upset about it. We are a new site, but most of the main members have known each other for much longer on other "hacking" forums. There is a general ethics code to give credit and it seems those in the Zune community have decided not to follow it. We will learn from this and make sure all future releases will not be stolen the way this one was.
