Default purchasing songs for Zune

How does the whole marketplace work for buying songs for the zune. Like do you get to keep the songs when you buy them? Or is there some kind of subscription to get songs but once subscription is over i lose the songs or am i able to keep them?

How does it all work...Iam really interested in getting the zune 2.0 and i would like to know how this works.

Depends on what route you take. If you go with the Zune pass, it works like your second question describes. If you purchase tracks individually, it works like the first. However, there are certain sketchy ways to keep tracks downloaded with the Zune pass after your subscription expires, if that's a path you want to take.

so there is no way to get like some kind of subscription where I can basically have a buffet of songs and be able to keep them? Hmm...so really what is the point in buying for a subscription when I cant even keep them legally.

Sorry, guess I wasn't clear. Yes, the Zune pass subscription service allows unlimited downloads from the marketplace. The do, however, "expire" once your subscription term ends. You could renew your subscription and they'd all work again. Forget I even mentioned the illicit way.

The idea of a subscription service is, instead of having to buy 16 songs for $15, you get 4 million songs for the same price. Someone like me, who bought a CD every month or so, saw the deal in this right away! I was already spending that per month, so why not go for a subscription?

Now if you buy a CD twice a year, the deal may not be as good. Or if you're content buying a track for $0.99 each, then there you go. But I love the Zune Pass.....

the pass does sound good. But damn it just sucks that if you even cancel the subscription that sounds go away.

Those are what I was talking about.
Thanks for clarifying ACE. Guess I'm having some trouble getting thoughts across today.
