Default If you cancel your Zune marketplace account...

Is it true that you lose your entire library of music that you have downloaded? I just ordered my 1st Zune... and someone told me that is the one downfall to the zune Marketplace!

Well, its not really a downfall.
The Zune Marketplace is Subscription Music.

If you got your music from the Zune marketplace subscription service (14.99/month or 1 month free) then it will stop playing after 30 days.

If you got your music somewhere else(limewire, kazaa, torrents, etc) then it will stay.

Try running you music through Tunebite, if you want to keep it. Google "Tunebite" and get the free trial.

Well, the downfall is in the structure of the marketplace.

If you pay for the music, you should be able to keep it. Not have to pay another $15 just to listen to the songs you downloaded in March, in April. Stupid.

You could pay $15 for 15 songs you download, and have to keep paying 15 a month to keep listening to those tracks...$180 a year for an album (broad hypothetical, but still)

There is nothing wrong with the structure of the marketplace.

You have it wrong.

I could download 1 song or 50,000 songs and pay just $15 a month. So if you listen to loads of music it is a great deal.

You can also buy music, for $1 a song and no monthly fee.

Look at napster, yahoo music, and the former urge. All had/have a subscription.

You can also just buy some Zune Points (MS Points") and buy the songs, it translates into just under 99 cents (like .2 cents), and then you get to keep them.
