Default Zune HD .mp4 question

I'm getting ready for my Zune HD by converting my movie collection to .mp4, but do you NEED to convert the file to 480*272 res? I'm asking because I find not reencoding to 480*272 seems to take less time. What are the requirements for .mp4 files?

They don't need to be set to that resolution. The Zune will downsize (or upsize, depending) the video to fit the zHD

Plus, if the videos are too small you can stretch them to fit on the screen. Or you can choose the "optimize for device" option in settings and the software will do it for you(once the videos are in mp4 of course.)

you dont have to do this, but say if you are converting them to 320x200, they are going to look like crap on the 480 wide screen...but if you are converting them at the regular 480P resolution then you shouldn't have any problems.

Yea, you really don't need to covert it. But if you are going to there is a few good programs out there that are free you can use. Check around in the threads and you will find some.
