All Creative devices have been cheaper than Zune devices in the same capacity.
Didn't say they weren't. But if the player costs 200 bucks without any storage whatsover at a Bulk OEM level, then it's most likely to cost much more than 200 for a company to make any sort of profit. I mean, hell, the Zii Egg developer version costs 400 right now.
Also, just because all Creative devices have been cheaper, doesn't mean it's always going to be cheaper in future.
I was not aware that the retail prices for both devices were announced.
I know the Zii Egg will retail at less then $399 for the 32 GB version. The 32 GB developer model with SDK, documentation and developer phone support is available on that website for $399 right now.
Given its $199 with no memory I'd expect the 16GB version to be $299 or less.

And wtf is this Plaszma business? I love Creative. I do. But this thing is a bit of a Johnny-Come-Lately.
Still looking at getting the 8GB Zen to replace my Zune 8, though.
If I were to guess this is Creatives attempt to recover some market share in the PMP world. They've been getting pummeled by Apple, Sony and Samsung so they needed to start thinking outside of the box. I think this is the result.
A compact PMP with all the bells and whistles you could ask for and is completely unlocked and open source. In theory you should be able to play pretty much any audio/video formats you want and run any Android apps you want. Its sorta like a handheld touch screen PC.

In theory. Unfortunately it's a touch screen device. And even on the iPod Touch, which I will admit has a beautiful UI and snappy response time, I still won't want to touch a touch screen for more than a few minutes without going crazy. Then there's something about this design that just doesn't appease me the way even the Zune HD does (and I don't even want one.) But I withhold complete judgment until I get to hold one. This thing COULD turn out to be the best player of the lot, kind of like how the Creative Zen Vision: M whooped butt.

I've used the Archos 5 for web browsering and video, the touch screen worked pretty well for that. I wouldn't want to type emails or documents on it or anything but for viewing stuff it works fine.
Additionally I can see the GPS being hugely useful, its nice to be able to pull your PMP out of your pocket anywhere while your listening to music or whatever and get your exact location and map out directions to a spot you want to find.
Gaming looks feasible as well although I haven't had a lot of time to play decent games on a PMP yet.

It is also expected that the ZuneHD (16 GB) will be $299 or less. My point was that both retail prices have not been announced, so saying that the Creative Zii (consumer version) will retail for cheaper than the ZuneHD is just speculation.
It is likely that the Creative Zii will be cheaper, but what is likely does not always happen.

The Creative Zii...Egg. Wow, Creative, for being the manufacturer of the very first mp3 player I ever owned, you've fallen. I mean...Zii? Wii? Egg? Chicken? The name is both stupid and will almost always make something think of the Wii. And the "Egg"? It looks like an iPhone copy on the outside. So, so far, I think of the Wii, see the iPhone, and think of the original mp3 player I ever owned. Whoever said this....thing? is going to beat the ZuneHD, you kindasorta need your brain checked...

I don't think "Egg" is any worse than some of the ridiculous names we have today like "iPod" and "Zune."

Vogue, did you edit your post? Because the email post is different then the one here. Anyway, according to your #2(Creative didn't market the first mp3 player. Eiger Labs MPMan F10 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Eiger Labs MPMan F10 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)), I did say the first mp3 player I myself ever owned. As for the names, iPod sounds queer, Zune...well...sounds like a brand, if anything else. Neither are bad names though. Egg, though. You EAT eggs, or find Secret "eggs" in games. I don't want an mp3 player that I can eat... ._.
It might just be the low framerate of the video, but it makes the processing power of the Creative Zii Egg look rather weak. They should have added a high-quality video so people could tell if the framerate really is crappy or not. It could be possible that they do not want people to know that the framerate is low, but I am not assuming anything.

lol I edited it because I misread YOUR post.
And iPod sounds like a growth and Zune sounds like a laxative.

Ironically, Zii.com has been registered to creative for nearly 10 years. The wii was announced in 2005 iirc...

I agree. And it does look like the framerate is low because the framerate of her hands moving is smooth, but the framerate of the device, isnt
