it appears you can keep the music after your trial is over(or once you stop your subscription)
i didnt want to lose what i had d/led with my 15day trial, so i've neglected to sync my zune up for a few days now, music was still playing though.. so i figured i'd try syncing up and see if it deletes the music or just tells me i cant play it anymore, shoot i can just d/l it anyway from a torrent site right? anyway, so i pulled up the zune software(before plugin in the device) and it pops up with a nice box telling me that it needs to connect to the server basicly to check to make sure i can still use my music.... sry didnt get a SS of the box but it should be obvious when ya see it, just click no, dont ask again. and it doesnt ask.... i even tryed signing in.. still it didnt update the licence on my music ![]() now with my trial 4 or 5 days over i can even play the music i got on my computer still... so i guess when ya use the subscription the program has no idea how long you can use the music for as long as ya dont click yes on that box.... if that made no sense i'm sorry, bit drunk

well according to this site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928377/en-us ----------------------quote------------------------------- Songs that you download as part of a subscription cannot be burned to a CD. If you do not renew your subscription, the content that you downloaded continues to appear in your Zune library. However, you cannot use that downloaded content if your subscription is not active. ----------------------quote------------------------------- then according to this one: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928065/en-us you can have it go and update the licenses for your music.... i have a feeling that this is what i told it not to do by saying never check. i also read that some of the licenses have expiration dates so it may be on a 30day license or something too..... guess i'll just wait and see... i would guess if it lasts for a month then i should be golden...

I haven't used mine yet. But, maybe the trial really lasts 30 days like a normal Zune Pass?

If somebody can send me or upload a zune marketplace mp3 set to expire, I can take a look at it and *probably not* hack it...

The way around it is to rerecord the music. You could use something like the so called DRM removal programs. It's quite simple.
You could have the ENTIRE library from the marketplace for FREE, if you downloaded and rerecorded all the songs before the 15 days were up. |

I know this is not Zune related but content that I've downloaded for my Sprint phone that is supposed to only work 90 days has been working for 2 years now. There may be some sort of glitch in the system that will eventually be caught and corrected but cannot be corrected on content that is already downloaded.
One question though, why would one want to partake in a subscription to music that you could not burn? I'm quite sure that iTunes would not be nearly as popular if you could not burn CD's with the music tracks that have been downloaded. Microsoft may want to rethink this thing if they want to compete with iTunes. |

I downloaded Tunebite and it will re-record the music that is DRM encrypted and save it in various formats...
You load the music in the program, and it records about 4 songs at a time, and you can't use any programs that make sounds, cause those sounds will be recorded into the music, I made that mistake ![]() The only problem is that it records in real time, so you might want to do it when you sleep...if you sleep... 8)

I just use Sound Taxi. Same concept as Tunebite. It removes the DRM. The quality of the songs suffer just a tad i.e. the kbps goes down a bit, but all of the songs on the marketplace are 192 kbps quality and after conversion, they end up as 150 kbps quality. Not as good, but still really good, considering most c.d.s used to be 128 quality like only 4 years ago. The upside is that it is pretty fast so that's good. I am an avid jazz fan and so the fact that i got this little nifty converter rocks. I have downloaded like 8 gbs of music, converted them all into unprotected mp3s, and i'm only into my second day of my zune pass.

I used Urge's 14 day trial, downloaded over 320 full cd's off the service and used Tunebite to re-record them to remove DRM, took over 3 days to strip it all of DRM.
