Yeah, mine doesn't show up on my wireless network. And you didn't really need to blur anything lol. Except maybe the serial number, but the only thing you would use that for is for warranty purposes.
yes he is on vista
i think this is why
its like hidden from xp systems or somethin
cuz i tried looking for it on my laptop but it didn't find anything
so i guess only with vista you can see this, but the only thing that happens is when you click on the icon it opens that properties windows thats it but still 3 keys thats good find
i wonder why bastards ms made such a long unique id key lol
From what I could tell it does. It boradcasts the packet, but doesn't include an SSID. I think the other zunes look for it and KNOW what SSID to use to connect. But who knows .
i think the psp will be able to later be connected to psp, i saw in the menu psp's adhoc can use channel 11, 6 and 1, 11 being the zune's channel as you said?
Yes, the Zune HAS to have a MAC, does anyone know of any network device that dosnt? no, every network device HAS to have a mac address.
Yes, the Zune HAS to run in ad-hoc (well atleast from MS), if you transfer a song from zune to zune you obviously don't have an AP in the middle, so its ad-hoc.
Your best bet to hack the wifi is going to be to figure out which channel (i heard 11), what SSID it is on (use kismet it can auto discover hidden SSID's) and see if it has any filters to find a Zune Vs. finding a PC or something.
You will then have to replicate a "zune" on your PC, my guess would be the Zune filters by mac addresses to find another zune, then again this probably isnt going to be a standard file sharing protocol so I am in the dark on how you would actually access the Zune data via wifi. If someone has 2 zunes I would suggest transferring a bunch of songs back and fourth and see what kismet has to say about it.

The problem I had was not having two Zunes, so there was no way for me to discover the SSID.
No, it is the Irony of a object that connects to another computer having a MAC address. The wi-fi connection works off a completely different principal than a standard wi-fi connection.

don't you let some program broadcast a fake zune signal?, so i guess you need to replicate the packet that we are able to catch, and then use that new packet and broadcast it on channel 11 adhoc, from there you will be able to give it data no?

Find me the program that will net me brodcast custom packets and I'll try it.
