Default How to unlock your Zune to transfer files in My Computer.

After patching (or moding your registry), run the Zune software, being "Syncing" and start transferring a file to your Zune through my computer as well. While the file is transferring close the Zune software. Your Zune will remain unlocked (the screen will still show "Connected") however the Zune software will be off. You should have full access to add any files you want without bothering with Syncing until you unplug the Zune (kicks it out of being "Connected" and allows Zune-User interaction again).

Process:
  1. Apply External Hard Drive Patch / Registry Mod
  2. Plug in your Zune
  3. Turn on the software and press "Start Sync"
  4. Begin transferring over a file from your computer to the Zune
  5. Shutdown the Zune software while the transfer is still in progress
  6. Transfer files through My Computer
  7. Unplug your Zune to disconnect

No, he found a different method. He is saying it STAYS unlocked if you close it mid-sync.

Awesome find. I think this deserves a frontpage post.

Im having trouble copying files off of my zune after I put them on. Putting them on is easy and the zune doesn't complain anymore, but when I try to drag files off of the zune it says:

A device attached to the system is not functioning

Anyone else seeing this? Does it with and without zune software running and after the sync process.

Something else, has anyone else tried to use MS activesync as another way to access the zune and/or transfer files? The first time I plugged in my zune active sync came up and asked about it. I have yet to try it.

its a little handy proggy that syncs all your emails, address book, and tasks to do.
its used a lot in windows mobile os's for the palms. its real handy when you use a wm os and active sync. if im not mistaken it works with other devices.
i also yet to try it, but i might mess with it soon

I actually had that thought the other day, but could not get it to pick it up at all.
