Default FairUse4WM

does anybosy know if this software will work for stripping the DRM from downloaded (not purchased) tracks from the Zune Marketplace?

If not, anyone know of anything that will?

I searched and searched and couldn't find anything about this in here.

Thanks

as wmc say, that wil not work, that was designed with pfs content in mind, the problem with zune drm is that it not only derived from the same pfs drm, but it is actually stronger, and got a nifty trick, it uses special id tags that cannot be stripped at the moment.

tunebite platinum is not actually a drm stripper, is a re-recorder, the good thing about it is that is the best thee is, and adjusting the settings you get a copy of the tracks with DRM you want to free that is about 90-95% identical digitally to the original track, including the metadata and depending of your pc, you can re-record as much as 10x faster that a regular record.. so a 60 minutes album will only take you 6 minutes to copy.

Fair4uwm in the other hand break the DRM and you get the very original files.

in my opinion, one is the hacker aproach (fair4use) using code against code and the other is the modder aproach of using hardware to find a workaround and don`t mess with code.

the result is, as stated 90-95% the same.

no it won't. Tunebite, etc. sound terrible! It's the equivilant of recording your output, which gives you a really crappy recording quality (like being in a tunnel). It's much better and smarter to use a P4S service with FU4WM, which will not only batch edit, but take seconds per multi-minute song and give you the EXACT SAME THING, metadata and all (and quality sound). It's much much much smarter to spend seconds and get a 1 for 1 copy than leave it forever and allow a ton of things to go wrong. Hopefully Viodentia will return and find a way to work around DRM 9.1's (Zune's) new trick, as it should be pretty much identical save for the id tags

If you really must use a recording program but don't want to pay for Tunebite (or don't want to use a crack), Audacity works just as well (but that's really not saying much).

Tunebite isn't like putting a mic up against your radio, it's using an internal loopback (There is no analog medium to pass through, it is on an entirely digital level)!

Basically, unless your soundcard has some serious issues, the difference in quality will be indiscernible.
Audacity can accomplish the same feat, but Tunebite will speed it up a bit and keep tags and such.

Tunebite a quick and dirty method of getting around DRM, and since there is no alternative, it's hard to recommend anything else.

Sure, but you can't tell me it isn't preferable to avoid analog. It's quick and dirty, but not nearly as fast or as clean as undoing the DRM itself. And where did you get the "mic up against your radio" bit from? I said it's recording your output, which it is, no?

Default Worked with URGE...

Dunno if it still does, but it worked when URGE first was announced. I did the free trial several times and was able to remove the DRM from the files, giving me several gigs of free 192kbps music. You might want to try that out.
