If you go into your registry and search the word "Zune," a handful of searches down you will come upon a folder with a couple registry values in it.

These values sound important to me, but that doesn't mean anything because I am a total noob, but I thought that I would post them anyway.

CLSID - {E4023970-7EBD-4C03-B83C-3B3ABB77EF64}
Filter Data (sounds important) - 02 00 00 00 00 00 60 00 etc.
FriendlyName (what is this?) - Microsoft Zune H.264 Video Decoder

Could somebody with a lot of rep and experience tell me what these things are and whether or not they are important?

Thanks

Oh, I also found some stuff with values like "MNInetZUNE.MNLicenseHistoryRequest.1" and "MNInetZUNE.MNLicenseHistory" and something about a permanent license.

Again, are these at all important or am I just a dumb*ss for even telling you guys about them?

Here's a depressing little quote (source)
Quote:
"WPA-PSK may be vulnerable to a brute force attack but, with the choice of the right password, it becomes unfeasible.

Assuming a decent utility is used, a 31 character long password of random upper- and lowercase letters and numbers results in 62^31, or 3.7x10^55 possible combinations.

If we assume 60 attempts per second, it will take more that 1.3x10^36 times the age of the universe (15 billion years) to attempt every possible combination. The average time would be half that, or 6.5x10^35 times the age of the universe.

Even if someone were to come up with a scheme that reduced the bruteforce time to 1 trillionth of what would be required otherwise, it would still take 6.5x10^23 times the age of the universe. And so on..."
Are these what the are looking for? {6ac27878-a6fa-4155-ba85-f98f491d4f33} {ca3d7387-f67b-11da-bbec-8000600fe800}

Yup, http://zunerama.com/forum/index.php?topic=1273.0
Yeah, from what I can tell, it stores the songs similar to the iPod (random numbers and letters instead of a name). I haven't done this on either one, however, so don't take my word for it.

Either way, I'm sure that e can all agree on the fact that although writing info directly onto the HD would probably be very effective, it wouldn't exactly be of any help to the average person. Anyway, it's the flash memory we have to overwrite.

BTW - ZunePet, you know there's a quote button, right?

Has there been any success in injecting code into a image or mp3 file?

Default Hard drive on any computer

I am attempting to make Zune appear as a hard drive on ANY computer. All you need to do is plug and use.

I found that Zune actually has an AUTORUN option. I tried making a text file to autorun when the Zune is pluged in, and what do you know, It worked!!!

Can you guys please supply me the registry file for the Newest HDD hack? THank you very much!

Thumbs up A little bit more to go.

I think I have discovered something more to hacking the zune. It involves several previous "hacks" / button combinations. But maybe it will be something to look into for the people here at zune boards since you peeps are a little more experienced at what you do. Maybe you can figure out a way to completely replace the zune firmware with Ipod firmware (which is what I am currently working at) since ipod's are so much easier to work with. Anyways give it a try and see if you can take it further. So first of all you've got to use the hack that makes your zune visible in "my computer". I believe you go to "start", "RUN" type "regedit" click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM then from here I had to play around a little. On the web it said that I had to go to "ControlSet001" but I noticed a "ControlSet003" and a "CurrentControlSet" as well. I had to use "CurrentControlSet" and the value in the registry that I changed that made it show up in "my computer" was changing "portabledevicenamespaceexcludefromshell" from 0 to 1 under this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB\Vid_045e&Pid_0710\078edbbb_-_0aedbc4e_-_80bd1ff8_-_8ee00652\Device Parameters. So there are two "device parameters" in "current control set". Here is where it gets more interesting. I used the so-called button hack pushing up and the back arrow button, to reboot the thing, as I was rebooting it I used the "left, center and back arrow button combination to erase the firmware. I realized it was no longer in my computer. So I looked through the control sets, each had "device parameters" for zune but only "current control set" had two. So what I did was change the registry values that had anything to do with exclusion to 0 and anything that was a zero to a 1. This enabled zune to show up without any firmware in both my computer and the "explore" interface for dropping and dragging in my computer. But... it showed up as a 150 MB drive when I know that the Zune I have has 30 GB of storage. Interesting... Is this an onboard storage for device firmware? or perhaps a partition of the 30 GB's? Maybe there is only 150 mb but some file system turns it into 30 gb? this is very doubtful to me. So one of the first two choices could be the only other alternatives.

So when I tried gaining access to the 150 mb "drive/partition"(via ctrl-alt-delete and TRYING to end the zune firmware installation process) to drop onto it an Ipod firmware, the 150 Mb drive disappeared and the 30 Gb harddrive showed again, yet when I pushed the back button in the explore section of "my computer" it showed the 150mb drive with nothing in the window but when properties was accessed there was 11.3 Mb used whereas 2kb was used prior to the firmware installation. Hopefully this helps. Let me know. The Two keys once again are:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB\Vid_045e&Pid_0710\bbdb8e07-ed0a-4ebc-80bd-1ff88ee00652\Device Parameters

--------- for the 30 gb and :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB\Vid_045e&Pid_0710\078edbbb_-_0aedbc4e_-_80bd1ff8_-_8ee00652\Device Parameters

------for the 150 mb drive. This one only shows if you use the button combo to erase the firmware from the device.
