[Not Plausible]Calling All Hackers: $1000 Bounty
I purchased my Zune 80GB the first week they were available about 18 months ago. I had read some negative reviews of the Zune software, but I figured some clever programming geeks would crack this code within weeks, if not days, so that I could permanently sync my Zune with WMP, as I do with my Sansa and Creative players.
I tried the hack that was on this board, but I would have varying results and found it to be a somewhat messy process, and now that Microsoft has forced 3.1 on us, it's DOA.
The Zune software is among the worst I've ever used. These "upgrades" seem to be steps backwards. Why would they replace Quicklists with the inept Now Playing? I don't want to go on a rant here of all the things that are wrong with the Zune software, but instead offer a proposition. If we could get 100 members of Zuneboards that also loathe the Zune software to put up $10 each, then maybe we could offer a $1000 reward to the person/group that can permanently crack the Zune, so that it can be synced with WMP like just about every other MP3 player made.
I will gladly put up the first $10. I'm not sure of the logistics or legality of doing this, but maybe it could be done on Paypal somehow or someone from Zuneboards could moderate the process and competition. I don't care how it happens as long as it gets done. I've had just about enough of the dreadful, wretched, and intolerable Zune software. It takes all the fun out of it. A quick search of the Net and it's easy to see that I'm not alone.
If anyone knows of working solution that's already available to sync my Zune 80 ver 3.1 to WMP I will be eternally greatful, if you point me in the right direction. Otherwise, I pledge the first 10 bills towards making this happen. I don't want my Zune to end up an over-priced paperwight, but I expect that's the way it's going.
