Chinese Characters?

Hi,

I just bought a Zune player a week ago and I wanted to know if there was any way for it to display chinese characters? Currently, all chinese characters are displayed by a box.

Ive read that there was a unicode method where you put the fonts into the system partition, but i believe that method no longer works?

You can only use 1 app right now, or downgrade to 1.4.

I can download an app that will make the zune display chinese? OR I can downgrade the firmware to 1.4?

If you have a zune 30, you can downgrade your firmware to 1.4 and you can display chinese letters, although I'm not sure how that works. I'll let bolt fill that one in.

There is also an "app" which is basically just a "game". You load it to the zune, load it up on the zune player and it's sort of like the zune player, but it'll display chinese letters. Problem it. it's a "game/app" so the battery will be drained pretty quick. I think I filled as much as I can and I'll let someone else finish it off.

I have a zune 16GB, so its not possible to downgrade the firmware to 1.4??

Bummer...any idea if/when Microsoft will release an update that will enable chinese languages?

Only chance of that happening would be in they shipped international to Asia(China, Japan, India, etc).

how ironic... the zune is made in china and cannot be used there. hopefully when the zuneHD launches, it will bring the whole zune world international, and there should be a chinese update just like we have seen happen to the ipods.

however, the downloads there are not working. Can anyone tell me if there are any alternate links? Or perhaps an updated way of downgrading the firmware?

edit-- so I found there is a different way to downgrade from 3.x->1.4
than from 2.x->1.4... Does that mean there is no way to install Chinese characters with this procedure: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/tut...-tutorial.html ?

I have been trying that too, with my Zune 30gb, I got it down to v1.2 from v3.1 but I keep on getting the "Firmware up to date" when I try and apply the asian language hack.
