Zune hard drive question

I have a 30 gig Zune
the lamest Zune probably out there lol
Well, I wanna buy a bigger hard drive because all my music can't fit and when I fill it up it starts getting frozen a lot. I have been reading and I found out they make a few hard drives with the same plug as the one inside the Zune. They are bigger hard drives and I also noticed that they just came out with the 250 gig hard drive not to long ago. what if I was to buy the 250, 100, 80, 60, 120, or the 160 gig hard drive and put it inside my Zune would it fit, would it both work with the Zune and will the Zune recognize the hard drive?

Yeah, it should work, so long as it's a 1.8" hard drive with a ZIF connector. There may be a trick to getting the firmware on a blank drive or not, I've heard that it may or may not be simple to install. Some people can't get it to work, some get it first try.

so how do they do it?
do they just plug it into the computer or what?

Ideally, yeah. It should just detect the Zune and load the firmware. But I've heard that it doesn't always work.

Alright just in case if it doesn't work do you just keep unplugging it and plugging it back in?
Also if i bought an 80 gig hard drive or something would the Zune software recognize it as an 80 gig Zune or still as a 30 gig Zune with the capacity of the 80 gigs

Don't know the answer to the first question since I've only got a cursory knowledge of the subject myself, but as for the second, it will be recognized as a 30, but the software will recognize it with however much memory it has. That's because it checks for the Zune version by the motherboard, not the hard drive.

After you install the new hard drive if you use the button combo to do a FW and HDD reset (Back+Center+Left) then plug it in to your computer you should be able to use it
