Default Make Zune work on USB car audio deck?

So basically, I have a deck with a rear usb port, but it can't see the zune at all.

Any hacks out there that could make the Zune visible and playable?

You stupid idiot, this topic has been discussed before! Why don't you at least try reading the boards before you ask your stupid question!!! The moderator here should ban you for that.

Wow, why don't you tell us how you really feel zune08? In his defense are you really going to read every post for hours hoping to get lucky and find what you are looking for or just ask and hope for a quick answer and the moderator then closes the thread? The search isn't much better, because if you don't type in the happy word you will never find what you are looking for. Esp. if you don't happen to know exactly what you are looking for. This is supposed to be an informational site, don't see the harm in asking a question that may have been asked months ago. esp. if it is an easy answer and can be taken care of in one reply, rather than getting on his case for not being as smart as you. Just my opinion. Also most of the newer decks are being designed with Ipods in mind not many or any at all are being manufactured with the Zune in mind. Best way to go is like Stuchbery said get a deck with an AUX or 3.5 mm input jack, or get an FM Trasmitter, Zune just happens to make one ;-)

All of you, please refrain from the name calling and flaming, it's not nessessary.

Back on topic, you can use the tape adapter or an FM transmitter to do it easily. You can also try a direct in-line connection with the AUX port if you have one.

In the OP's defense i agree with wuta, but there is a search function.

Yeah.
Or do both, charge it, and then use the AUX port for playing.

i think some of you missed what he was asking. if you connect an ipod via the usb port you can control your music using the headunit. however it doesnt work with the zune out of the box. the question is there any sort of hack you can do that will allow that headunit to recognize the device and play it through said usb plug.

obviously if you just purchase a headunit with a 3.5 aux port of use one of those tapes with the wire comin out of it thatd work too. but thats not the question...

Yeah, I guess we didn't really address the USB question, but I sort of danced around it when I said most newer decks were being designed with Ipod compatibility, hence the USB on his deck not recognizing the Zune. It isn't going to because it is specific to Ipods. Sort of like the thread wondeing if the guy could rig his Ihome for his Zune, same incompatibility issue there. You would think USB is USB, but I'm sure the deck has some sort of Ipod "software" installed in it, which isn't allowing it to recognize the Zune. I'd imagine the only way to fool the deck would be to duplicate the that signal the Ipod sends to the deck, and since the firmware has proven to be unhackable as of yet, don't think it can be done.....yet. That was why I mentioned the 3.5mm AUX input or the FM transmitter, those are what I know will work, rather than have him wait for a possible hack that may never come. I'm not the smartest computer guy in the world, so I may be way off with my reasoning behind the incompatibility issues with the Zune and the USB, just my laymans way of looking at it.

I use a 250 gig usb harddrive on a car audio deck in my motorhome so I can play random music for days without attention. It displays the song titles and you can search thru it with the car stereo controls. The trick to make that work was to format the harddrive FAT32 ....That is what the car stereo wants to see...it won't work with NTFS. It would be really sweet if this hack ever came to be.
