Zune Development Kit Petition

please sign this petition, its for microsoft to allow is to make mods to the zune. or to release a development kit or something.

I'm guessing they've already gone as far with a development kit (XNA) as they're going to go. Their level of paranoia about DRM would never coalesce with the idea of releasing the native ZDK and allowing users to repack the firmware.

Not to mention that I don't think these online petitions have ever swayed any corporation, large or small. Most of the people involved in making the decisions never even see these petitions (nor do they have any interest whatsoever in doing so).

well its still worth a shot, dark zune had an addon petition but you had to sign up for the site and post in a forum.
not making fun of dark zune or anything lol, i just thought that this way it would hopefully get more signatures. they had around 26 and microsoft would never be convinced by just 26.

lol, they are pretty obsessed with drm. thats also their number 1 excuse for any problems with a zune.

dust in screen?? feature to block the drm.
zune randomly shutting off?? feature to block the drm.
zune bursting into flames?? feature to block the drm.

actually i just read that and it looks like microsoft is about to drop DRM from the zune music marketplace.

although i still refuse to buy music from zune marketplace, just because of the fact it has drm.

i use napster, and yes i listen to metallica xD

Umm, that story is from early last year. As it says in the article (emphasis mine):

They went ahead and did that, but only on a small selection of songs. Most of the songs on the marketplace continue to have DRM, while wirelessly transferred songs and marketplace videos always have DRM.
