Default USB Through Headphone?

When I;m on my laptop, I use my Zune for music, plugged into the microphone port. I plugged it in to sync, and I heard something strange.
I recorded it http://www.filedropper.com/zune_3 you might have to turn up your speakers or plug in some headphones. It's definitely got something to do with the USB, because it only makes this noise while it's plugged in. Which makes me think that there's some sort of data on the headphone lines.

That file hosting site is really slow, I can't load the page. I'd imagine it's just the noise the computer makes when you plug and unplug something into/out of the USB port.

It's probably just some form of interference. IC chips are inherently analog, they just mostly take a a digital form using thresholds, so some signal could be leaking through the processor or something and the tiny currents manage to vibrate up or something. Or it could be radio interference or something else entirely.

But they aren't going to have the USB output into the headphones because it'd be useless, especially especially since it'd need a special adaptor to work anyways

That sounds like it could make a really good basis for a techno song. Other than that, Nurta's probably right.

lol, techno beatz!

Yeah, I think Nurta's right too, the sound changes when I touch the pad, and it makes a cool beeping sound when I press the back button

Nurta is right, its just feedback from the hardware of the pc. If it gets too annoying you can buy a good sound card for about $15-20 at a pc hardware outlet (walmart has some even). They're external from the mainboards chipsets bus and run on their own PCI bus so they don't receive the feedback (at least in most cases).

I've found this to be quite common with computers which are connected to a wall socket with no ground wire.
