Hi-
I love my Zune. I really do. But, ever since I've had it, my bloated technical ego has taken a few major blows. Honestly. I used to hack my iPod apart, and do whatever I wanted with it. It just seems that every time I think I have a genius idea for my Zune, 15 minutes later I've got tech support on the phone in my right hand and a lifeless Zune in my left. Anyway, what I want seems simple enough. I have a windshield mount in my car for my Zune. This mount swivels 360 degrees, so I can change the orientation of my Zune for music and movies. Having a cable going into the bottom for power and a second cable coming out of the top for audio makes the entire setup very awkward and inconvenient. I have seen people use the home docks in their cars for integrated power and audio support from the single port on the bottom, however this is not an option for me if I want to use the windshield mount. So, I would greatly appreciate if anyone could come up with some sort of setup I could implement in my car to get integrated power and audio from a single cable (Sync cable). Anyone...? |

![]() take the round zune dock, sync cable, and audio cable (RCA or male/male 1/4/jack) then you get a soldering iron melt a hole in your cupholder fit the cables through the hole and place the dock in it. For the sync cable purchase a Usb charge. hook the audio cable in the back of your radio. if not possible with the rca audio jack use a male/male 1/4 jack. ![]() ![]() |

But I'm new to the forum and in order to include a link I had to post 5 times.
Anyway to the point, get one of these: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundzncblpak.html Soundgate has an exclusive contract with Microsoft for Zune car audio integration, and Logjam is the exclusive seller of Soundgates Zune integration pack. There is a great review here: http://www.grlt.com/Portable-Electro...Car-Audio.html Depending on what car you have, they are releasing dedicated integration kits later this month that will include things like steering wheel control. I have a 4runner and can't wait to have a single connector to my Zune30 and be able to control it with my steering wheel!! The 4runner kit is here: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundtoyzn4.html Last edited by bobsolo : 07-02-2008 at 06:28 AM. Reason: added link |

I use a Kensington Windshield Mount. It's the only one that I found that was worth while. Here's a link:

Have had mine for over a month now. Was pretty happy with it, until the connector broke. And since the Zune sync cable is perma-attached to the processor unit, no easy way to replace it. Might end up having to buy another core unit :/
