Default current state of FairUse4WM?

does anyone know if FairUse still works with the latest updates (2.5)? i ask because when 2.5 came out, i didn't update right away and i was still able to use FairUse. my ZunePass ran out and then i updated. i renewed my ZP yesterday, but under another log-in. now it doesn't seem to work. when i run mirakagi, i get

"Mirakagi starts, code version 0.9
Found 0 keys in keyring.
-----------------
Processing "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM\cache\Indiv02.key"
Version: 11.0.6000.6324 ...
XML - Cert: 84 bytes, Key Storage: 2762 bytes.
DLL 1000/fbd1c @ ac01000 && fd000/2d4b0 @ acfd000
Cannot locate encrypted code chunks.
It is finished."

and when i run Fairuse and click Recover Keys, i get

Extraction in progress on "Indiv02.key" 11.0.6000.6324 -- Please wait.
Failed - Unable to locate encrypted code table"

i was just wondering if it's not working because MS caught on and with the updates redid their DRM so it's FairUse is longer able to remove it? if so, is there something that is in the same style as FairUse (that is, NOTin the style of tunebite/soundtaxi) to take it's place, or is there news of FairUse being "updated" to work again?

or is there something else i'm blanking on and it's something that's my fault? if so, how do i fix it?

any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance

try playing some of the songs. and are you running xp or vista?
because for any of us who know of ruckus- its mostly used my colleges, the fairuseforwm only works for xp, not vista because of the different encryptions.

i'm running XP. i tried playing a few of the songs in WMP11 and the Zune software, and it still didn't work. also, prior to posting, i had tried doing it under a couple virtual machines running XP, but with versions 2.1 and 2.5 of the Zune software (tho i tried 2.1 after installing and un-installing 2.5 on one). also, i tried using it on my step-brother's computer, which had 2.3 installed and couldn't update to 2.5 because of missing Windows Updates (so i figure bits of 2.5 weren't sneaking in without registering a full update). all failed with the same "cannot locate encrypted code chunks" error. so, even tho i'm not one to the coding of things, i think MS my have "updated" the DRM. it's probable i'm wrong, tho. also, i thought it had worked in Vista. but again, i'm probably wrong. i had tried it for a friend on her Vista laptop, but it was months ago. so i don't remember exactly if it worked or not. she should be coming over this weekend, so i'll try it out and report back (as it stands, i pretty well refuse to install Vista on my dekstop).

What i reccomend you do is that if FairUse4WM dosn't work anymore, try tunebite!
It can convert a song 27 times faster than the original length of the song itself!
It is really fast! Try it out and see if you like it, I did! I hope this helps!

Whenver I try using tunebite it says I Don't have the license to the song. The only way to fix that problem is to play it from the zune software first then try to convert it. This is waaaaaaaaay too much of a hassle for the amount of songs I want to put on my ipod.

But the crucial distinction between FairUse4WM and TuneBite is that FairUse4WM strips the DRM off of WMA files and leaves you with clean, unmolested audio, while TuneBite basically plays your music and records the output. The TuneBite method means you have to reencode the music, resulting in (often significant) quality loss.

I tried tunebite, it won't convert all my songs!
like over half of them are unsupported file format?!
WTF?!

Never did have problems with Tunebite, worked good every time I used it on my files.Maybe u should write to support.I also saw that they got out a new version, with some additional features. It also has increased recording speed, up to 54 x and added some new virtual cd burner technology or smth like that so this should speed up things nicely.
As for stripping the drm off files, some might say that it's not quite that legal to mess with the files. This one just makes unprotected copies of the files.
