Hey Guys,
Forgive me if i missed it on my search through the board. First post here..that being said I've been quite annoyed with the lack of car docks. I've been looking into modifying one of the home docks to fit the bill. Can anyone point me in the right direction to anyone who has done it before? My skill level is more than sufficient to figure it out on my own but before i go buying things and cutting and splicing i would just like to see if anyones beat me to an easier solution ![]() All i would like is to be able to just dock the zune when i get in the car and have it charge and be hooked into my aux input. Thanks guys. Hopefully this will be the first of many posts with the community here.

look into getting a zune car pack. It comes with a FM transmitter and a car charger. They go for 70 retail but you can pick one up for less then 20 on ebay. I just bought another one because I'm in the process of modding my current one. If my mod turns out alright I could sell you mine if you're interested.
Just type zune car pack into google or ebay.. I would recommend not going with the V2 though. With the original you can transmit without charging, so if you ever want to take your zune away from your car while you're out and about you can still listen to it on the radio. I do this at work every day. |

I just found these guys:
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundzncblpak.html Soundgate has an exclusive contract with Microsoft for Zune car audio integration, and Logjam is the exclusive seller of Soundgates Zune integration pack. There is a great review here: http://www.grlt.com/Portable-Electro...Car-Audio.html Depending on what car you have, they are releasing dedicated integration kits later this month that will include things like steering wheel control. I have a 4runner and can't wait to have a single connector to my Zune30 and be able to control it with my steering wheel!! The 4runner kit is here: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundtoyzn4.html |

My $5 cig lighter -> USB doesn't put out enough power for the Zune, apparently.
Zune 80 takes up to 1.4 amps... My USB adapter puts out .4 amps, lol. Plugging the Zune into my Rockband USB hub also does NOT charge it, unless connected to the 360 or the PC... I'm going on a trip later this month, and at this rate, I won't be able to charge my Zune at all! I don't want to spend $70 just to charge it in my truck... I connect my Zune to my truck stereo via headphone -> RCA connectors... I don't want to downgrade to FM quality audio, lol. I don't suppose there's plans for a Zune specific car charger any time, is there? lol. ![]() |
