Dock mod in saturn ion

Finally done, over 10 hours in total 8 of those where bondo and sanding.

Great overall functionality, exactly what I set out to do. The dock and lcd are powered up when the ignition is in the on position not in acc. Same as my fog lights. So when I pull into the garage and shut the car off the lcd and dock power down, which pauses the Zune which is a sweet plus that I hadn't foreseen. When leaving the car at work etc. I grab my zune and go no more messing around with power and audio wires.

The main reason for the fiberglass dash hump is to hide the lcd because I refuse to remove it from the dash daily and where I work downtown, if you leave out an lcd, gps, phone or Zune it will be gone!

And the remote is also a big selling point, for me.

maybe, but it's no different than a pioneer cd player with flip up lcd.

as long as no video is played and the images are repetitive or still, its ok

besides my tint is illegal and my plate covers are illegal, I don't care if it's technically illegal, I'm not doing anything illegal with it(watching videos)

I am trying to do something like that with the v2 dock. th only problem is that the v2 has a usb out so i need a usb charger or something. the v1 had the input that would work with the car charger which would be nice but would not be sleek with my setup

That is really nice, i like the orientation of the screen, so you dont have to continually look to your left.

yeah i would be like hmmmm when did i put the backstreet boys on there? then when i would try to see what other songs i had by them... BAM. i would get into an accident.

So how do you handle screen orientation since video's play horizantilly and the menu is verticle?

The video would show up the correct way on the lcd.
Atleast it does that on mine.
