And for me, it seems like it's the most plausible hack higher than what we have now.

Go H&M Team!

Well, our computers at work are STRICTLY prohibited from installing any software (US Marines). We can't stream music due to bandwidth and there is only one American radio station on the island (I'm stationed in Okinawa, Japan).

I'd like to take my Zune and plug it into the computer for the purpose of listening to music at work. By having a portable Zune (emulator, even?), we'd be able to run the program directly from a thumbdrive or from the desktop without any install problems or registry errors.

Alright people, I have decided that I will undertake this problem! I will post here within a week on how its going, and maybe will have a beta test by then. When I do get the first version working, which I hope I can do, I will need people to test it on as many systems as possible. I have only my school's computers to work with and my girlfriend's pc, those are the only computers that haven't been tainted by having a zune already plugged into them.

As for me coming back, don't worry, I am trying to get a case for my zune 30 so I need all the posts I can get :P So I will post here within a week or as soon as I have something working, which ever comes first.

Well, let us know. Some people are dying for this. And I can try it out on a few computers.

Well It turns out that when you install the software, like all software, it gives you the option of where to install it. I always thought it installed it in the C:\Program Files\Zune. But now that I know that, thats what I'll use if my first idea doesn't work.

I just downloaded the Thinstall Trial and planned on trying a clean install on my son's computer... Don't know if it will work or not. I can't see spending
$4,995
on the full Thinstall program just to get this done for the Zune, tho...

That was the sane problem I was having dragon, the main zune.exe crashing on launch. I had a "free" copy of thinstall that I was using and no extra computer to wipe clean and try again, so what I had to resort to doing each try was uninstalling the zune software, use ccleaner to clean out and registry keys just in case, then rescan with thinstall, then install zune, and scan again with thinstall. totally a pain in the ***. I will try a different method though and hope that works. I managed to hack my school's computers the other day and found out how to remove the administrator account password (for a single computer only though) and sign in with that. So maybe I'll try something on those.

I have to sit in a call center at work taking calls from r-tards all day because they signed up for hosting services way over their heads and want to bitch to us about it, and this sort of fucntionality would be great. You guys ar edoing an awesome job, I just wish the peeps over at Microsoft would take notice and try to give us the same sort of functionality that you guys are aiming for all the time.
