Ipod car charger not working with zune pinout help needed

Hi guys I just bought an Ipod car charger cause I don't have any zune car chargers available where I live, this ipod car charger outputs 5volts , I've ripped it open and found out pinouts from the usb connector on the car charger goes as follows



1 = 5volts dc ( should be +5 )

2 = no connection (should be - data)

3 = soldered to ground (should be + data)

4 = soldered to ground (should be Ground )

so Any ideas , I don't really understand what's going on I tried measuring voltage on pinouts from an usb port from a computer, without being inside XP , just to see which are the voltages and I got 5 volts all over pinounts 1,2,3, and 4 being ground. So please need some help from you guys.
Should I desolder pin 3 and ground pin 2 and 4?

Go and buy ANY Usb car charger. Don't worry about anything like that. That's like you worrying about what usb port on a computer to plug your zune into. They're all rated the same.

I bought an USB car charger this one was for an ipod with a female usb plug and it doesn't work , that's why I'm asking.

I am no techie but I can roughly assume that the ipod Charger wont work with the zune...even if yo uwaste your time modding it. save your self frustration and just buy one online ^_~

If it's a USB charger with a USB port, no matter what, it should work. Have you tried it with anything else that charges through USB?

Also, it might have a lower amperage (something like .5A vs. the 1.5A the official zune charger has), but i'm not sure if that would be a problem.

it's not working for real, I modded it and grounded pins 2-3-4 as to emulate usb port from my puter. It's not charging, I guess microsoft did some kind of funny thing so no one can mod any charger and get their genuine adapter. F**K

It's not worth it.
Go to a grocery store and buy a USB charger for like 12 bucks.
Bam. The end.

You don't get it an universal USB charger doesn't work with the zune

I do get it and it does. I've used proably 4 or 5 different cheap usb chargers with mine and I have had no problems. You can't base that off of one POS charger you used. Go pick up a different one, a different brand. One of those Ipod ones works fine.

If it doesn't work, you can always return it...but I'm telling you, it will.

Getting a charger that works is kinda hit and miss (from what i can tell)

Im pretty sure theipod useslower ampridge with most usb dc car chargers ive seen, there is a step down adapter for ipod (ebgames caries a good model)

try a cellphone usb chargger for your vcar available for about 10 bucks i am next paycheck
