i have a couple questions pertaining to FU4WM
1). i sync my zune with one PC (running the old software/firmware) and download songs via the ZMP on another. after using FU4WM and transfering the songs and attempting to sync the new songs to my Zune, i get an error of "For the first sync to this device, you must be logged into the service to register your device". since i'm using the old software, i can't log in. my question is what exactly does the error mean? i'm assuming that it doesn't mean FU4WM didn't work, since i can play the songs in other media players (WMP, WinAmp) and the Properties of the files says they're not protected. or is there something i'm missing elsewhere? 2. from what i've gathered about FU4WM, it doesn't work under Vista. is that true, or is there a work-around i'm unaware of? if it doesn't, is it possible it will at any time? or is there a way to get it to run under a virtual machine installation of XP? any solutions or points in the right direction are greatly appreciated.

1. Right click on one of the songs in question and see if it is protected.
2. You can use it in a virtual machine. Quote:

dude i had that prob too but it was an easy fix. convert those wma's to mp3s and it will transfer fine with the old software. if you dont want to convert them then just get those files to your comp with the new zune soft and that will sync them no prob. took me a long time to figure it out.hopefully it will help you |

Then you need to use tunebite.

I hate DRM. But thanks for the info, got to try it. Soon enough, I've never used the Marketplace to buy songs, i will soon though. Thanks!

How come everyone here forgets that you can simply burn the DRM protected music to a CD, then re-rip?
Or does it not allow you to do that?

You won't get caught anyways, but if you are a moral/ethical person, I guess that this isn't for you unless you stand up for your rights.

I have some Rhapsody songs that I purchased. Which software is better soundtaxi or tunebite?
Plus, someone mentioned that the sound quality was downgraded using the converters. How much is it distorted. I'm no audiofile by any means, but I don't want the songs to sound terrible.

Digital Rights Management, but most people call it Digital Restrictions Management. It makes it so that a song you buy off of iTunes or something will only play on your PC.
So naturally, people will take it off. ![]()
