I still strongly believe that the forums need fixed up to better suit discussions. It's very confusing and time consuming to go through all the sub forums, so here's my idea for how the forums could go.
- Newbie Dev Discussion
- - Where people new to coding could ask questions or read helpful tutorials.
- Experienced Dev Discussion
- - Where experienced developers discuss upcoming projects/games/betas.
- Game Request
- - Where people can post requests.
- Released Games
- - Where people post finished games. Open Source/Closed source would be required to be denoted in the title of the thread.
- Released Apps
- - Where people post finished apps. Open Source/Closed source would be required to be denoted in the title of the thread.
- Troubleshooting
- - My idea would be for it to have one single thread in it that just answers every single question. I figure this would help with the constant "why does [blank] always [blank]." kinda questions. The thread would allow replies so people could ask questions, but it would force them to at least glance at the topic.
I agree! This is pretty much the way I wanted it since about day 1.

thx Jorvette!
I agree with tiptup. It's rather chaotic in the games forums. Often, there are posts in the games section that aren't even available to download at the moment. Other times, I don't know if people are asking for help or if they're posting tutorials in the beginner's code section
@Creative, Darren, Liz, and lpx no longer have the power to revamp the site. You'll have to contact either Sanjay or CGAdmin, and neither of them are that active...
We do have the power to revamp, we just need approval for major changes.
LPX, CG doesn't view this kind of change as a "major" change. We already had one revamp of the game forum structure a while back, including introducing new policies on licensing. This kind of change should be fine, though to be honest, I kinda feel like this is just stepping back to what we used to have.
Also, Troubleshooting would make Game and hack support redundant, so if you do go ahead with this, make sure to move those topics in and remove that forum.

He was responding to the assertion that the admins do not have the power to revamp the site, and was not saying that this kind of change would be a major change.

What if somebody was to randomly say "SCREW IT I HATE COMPUTERS" and want to release a game for people to continue to work upon, since they wouldnt want to let their current progress go to waste??

then they can release it as is and tell people that they can work on it
I think TipTup's idea would be fine, though it's going to be pretty much going back to what we had last year. If that isn't a problem, it's fine by me.
We don't need no education!
We don't need no thought control,
No dark sarcasm in the classroom!

Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
I agree. People will end up getting confused between newbie and experienced.
How so? Most times if you don't know how to do something, go to newbie. If you just want to discuss something about more complicated aspects of a project go to experienced. It's a lot better then having
Help
- Help
- Help
It's just confusing and it makes there 3 different places to look for reading/posting help.
A lot of new members seem to keep posting the same thread in 2 or more of the forums.
You guys have to agree the current forum setup just isn't working.
