ever notice how alot of coders and developers have faded away the past months? remember when the games were released? how there were games being imported like crazy? and now they have all left?
i have been surfing the board recently, and im very sad to see this. the noobs are taking over zuneboards, with "how do i get games on my zune"..
we need something that will stop people from asking this question over and over.
ive came down to a few ideas off the top of myhead.
1) have a feature that if someone posts the "how do i get games on my zune" they get banned for an hour or so and recieve a note saying "you have been banned for asking a question that has been answered many times, please take the time to use our search bar before asking common questions" or something along the line of that.
2) have a feature that when accounts with the status "zewbie" post something, it will search the body for relevent words like "how do i get this" "i am new to this", and if it finds that they are askin it, instead of it posting, it will show them a note with a link to the thread on how to put games on your zune.
if anyone agrees with me and thinks something needs to be done about all these noobs killing zuneboards, please post in this forum. and if you have any possible suggestions that might stop them, feel free to post your ideas.
Believe im joking about this? think this whole idea is stupid? think that the newbies arent that big of a deal? heres a couple of links to threads and posts where newbies have asked this, just to show how often its asked.
...or admins should just force-read a sticky pertaining to common game questions.

THing is, noobs are vital to zB believe it or not.Also, it is a sign we are a great and growing board which means this: more game developers =D. More artists to make stuff for us. Ever heard of the saying "The best way to learn a concept is to teach it"?
If we are nice and respect them then we get a great name for ourselves and not getting the oh-so-grand title of "Most Jack••• board on the net"
But just have a sticky people are forced to read during their first time.
I am officaly adding this to my siggy: If people used google/dogpile/ask.com/zB forum search we wouldn't have Locke.
I could force-read the installing games topic, and actually did for a while. However, having 2 force-reads in one forum is a no-no. Noone would actually read them, notice how many people ignore the game request template?

Easy, no and no. We won't ban people for stupidity, now matter how frustrating it is, and 2 is more or less impossible, unless you plan to develop a custom plugin for vBulletin to do the job. This isn't going to happen. It's annoying, yes, but that's the beauty of copy-paste.

unless you plan to develop a custom plugin for vBulletin to do the job..
actually that could be possible, like find a plugin that normally would search the box for any cuss words, and then warn them. but with it you edit it from cuss words, to noobish keywords (like "i am new to this" "how do i get this on my zune" and ect), and edit the warning to give them a link to a sticky.

not really, all it would take is configuring a text file containing the swear words.
if someone could send me a copy the source of the vbulletins reply page, i could easily insert a script that would look for the noob keywords. im good with php, very good.
i dont wanna waste money and buy a full vbulletin just to get the source, cuz then i wouldnt even bother doing that. id be too busy making my own website for my vbulletin copy, and name the site "bansperday" and have a counter in the top left that shows how many bans there are total and how many there are each day, and id ban each person that signs up, all just for laughs.

It would be a waste of time, and there would be too many false positives (when the detector gets tripped on a legitimate post). Plus, good luck getting CrowdGather to put something like that on their server.
What makes you think anyone would sign up on your site to begin with?

After this happening to the same person a few times, they would just start to search it themself instead of waiting for a reply with a search link. This wouldn't completely solve it, but it would help. Also, the thing where it would search a zewbie's post isn't a good idea, because a zewbie isn't necessarily new to zuning and everything. i would agree if it was rarely asked how to install games, in fact if it wasnt asked so often, zb wouldnt be dead and i wouldnt have posted this...
yes it would stop them if it was the same person, but it isnt, its always a new person each time.
and to all the people who believe that zb aint dying, what ever happened to LedZepp?? ever thought he could have stopped coming here because this may have gotten annoying to him?
