Default Making Games Not Restart....

Somehow Microsoft made their games not restart after you're done playing. User-created games still have to restart. To fix this, why can't someone open their Zune as a hard drive (or find a way to access games on the Zune from the computer), copy either Hexic or Texas Hold 'em and find out how MS does this?

We've copied the games already. However, just "looking at the game" is lot tougher than you think. Figuring out how they do it is even harder.

The current theory is that the Microsoft games are digitally signed, and the Zune firmware doesn't trigger a restart when exiting from a signed game. You have to have the Microsoft encryption key (which is a closely guarded secret) to sign a game, so if that's the case, it's unlikely that we'll be able to make any progress on this front.

This is the same reason we can't modify the Zune firmware itself.

We have been able to extract the agmes form the firmware, but its in a proprietary ZCp file, so we are **** out of luck.

I could open it in a hex editor but I'm not sure what good it would do.. someone would have to send it to me as well.

I feel a lot of negativity in this thread.

What is with that ya'll?

At least we're trying and not giving up...I thought this thread was showing that somebody figured it out

What's wrong with emailing Microsoft for the encryption key? Nothing
No harm in asking. All we have to do is E-Mail them, trying to sound as professional as possible and telling them our intentions on how we're going to use it. I won't be the one E-Mailing them so figuring that out is up to whoever want's to do it.

M'kay?

NO MORE BAD VIBES! PERIOD!

Because some of us are realists?

I suppose there's no harm in emailing Coke for the recipe...and the Colonel for the 13 or whatever spices

See how odd that sounds? Off to go laugh at Palin some more!

That's not odd at all you worthless n00b...some us know how to try. I'd normally explain the concept but it'd be too much for your little brain to understand.

Someone took a substantial gulp of Haterade.

I don't know if you've realized this, but there is such a thing as a stupid idea. Asking a corporation to give you trade secrets is one of them.
