What will happen when tomorrows update makes games official?

What I mean is, will the developers be able to implement installing the games into the software, or will we be stuck doing it the old way? It would be really sweet (even if MS didn't officially recognize all the games, or support them) if people could add their own games to the software, much like people have collections of music and video that get synced. Updates could be found and automatically downloaded then get synced the next time a user chooses to do so.

Most likely everything will remain the same with the additional of two pre-installed games so the Games screen option is unlocked so people who have yet to realize you can put games on the device realize it and freak out.

Either that or they will create a subatomic black whole and throw us into the brink of oblivion..

Only time will tell..

Exactly. RIG is still a necessity (which is a pro or a con, depending on where MS decides to go from here).

then what are linux and apple doing? haha. And I'm worried that if they officially add only a few games, then the chance of the ones on these forums and such will actually get clouded over more than revealed to the public, just because people will want official releases from microsoft.

Yeah.

This is exactly why RIG hasn't taken off among users who don't already visit these forums anyway (70% of my traffic is linked from this site).

Games don't work anymore on the new 3.0 firmware, they show up, but just restart the hardware. They'll probably have to be compiled with the new XNA version. I don't know if RIG will need any changes, though it would be a good time for devs to start making all releases with RIG to simplify things for end users.

We will be able to use games again when they release XNA 3.0 Beta. That should be early this week, according to MS.
