Default [SOLVED] Soo, i got a pretty simple question...

Is putting games on a zune considered hacking it? So does it void the warrenty?

I dont care, and i feel stupid for asking it but i've had questions from a few people about that?

I would consider modding it.... if anything else... since currently they weren't really full use of them... but anyway... I'd not since XNA released the ways to do it.... and MS has allowed

Microsoft added the feature to have games. This would be like saying playing music on the zune is hacking it.

They supplied us with teh framework. Its part of the XNA family (windows, XBox 360, and Zune) so its definitely legal. In fact, if they released it and had it void its waranty, it would be counter productive. Microsoft is trying ot get as much people as possible developing games, so it will be a strong platform come holiday when they release it.

well i hope we can make money out of the games, cause frankly, im tired of the n00bs bugging me about creating games for them. I have my own priorities you know

but i can't wait for the holidays to come around when they release the final version of 3.0CTP, cause it is going to run alot better. and also your going to have more peopel able to play and install the games cause it will probably embedded in the zune marketplace.

You can't sell zune games. You aren't allowed. You can sell xbox 360 games when XCG releases. You can also sell PC games now.

True, but selling 360 games has always been the implied goal. They don't imply that they ever will beable to sell zune games. I would love a Zune Games Marketplace personally to vote and manage your games, but I don't think it's in the cards for 2008.

wait, people have been able to make games for the XBL marketplace for a while now, if they had the creator's club. I don't have X box (i have ps3) so were these games free, or what? I thought they'd been selling them all along.

well with my understanding, you have to pay 40 a month? to develop games on the 360 and then you can also download other games created by other members, for free. but you have to have the creator club membership. I have tried

Currently the only way to run xna games on the 360 is by having a CC Membership ($100 a month), but around when the new dash comes out and XNA 3.0 releases and loads of other stuff happening, they are releasing XNA to everyone. So you'll be able to purchase homebrewed games for cheap.
