Default Zune Community

Why is this community full of idiots, and noob leachers? Im tired of it, im seriously thinking about leaving.

Earlier today I had my rep subtracted because I wouldnt upload a zip file, I dont get paid to make my games. I put the medium out their if someone wants to play it then it is up to them to download what they must.

Also Earlier today I was told "This is the ****tiest game created, finish the ****ing phonebook" SO you want to insult me and then have me do something for you? yea...right.

Not to long ago Sim. had some issues as well with the com.

So I ask why does this community constantly try to push developers away? What do you guys think?

Trust me I hear you on all accounts. And like you I'm still not sure why I hang around here as much as I do. My biggest issue still is all the IP that people are stealing. Pokemon, Kirby, etc, etc. No, I'm not Nintendo but that doesn't give me much faith that you won't steal my property if I create games for you.

I've pretty much moved on to Xbox 360 and PC development only. I dabble with the Zune, but I doubt I'll release games for it until there's a point where I can profit from it. Until then it's just not really worth it. You give something away for free only to be ridiculed over it and have people demanding updates and new features. Yeah, it's not a situation I like putting myself in either.

I guess some people just don't appreciate the hard work you developers put into making these games for free. It seems that they think you guys are obligated to making these games, when your not. There's always people who are unappreciative, all I can say is just ignore them.
Also don't leave because of some unappreciative people. I'm pretty sure there's tons of other members who do appreciate the games/apps you make, including me, but it's up to you.

Its not the zune community, its society as a whole. If you gave everyone $100 dollars someone will still find a way to get mad at you, its sad but people dont show due respect, and the added barrier that the internet only intensifies this rudeness. I remember back in the days when zB had movies I began uploading towards the end and someone always complained, it wasnt compresse right, or it wasnt uploaded right. You just have to learn to look past the idiots and see the people that really appriciate your work.

The kinda people that complain about these things are the same kinda people that blame McDonald's for making them fat

When in reality it's their fault for eating there in the first place

These people need something to complain about, and unfortunately it's you guys

Without you guys, and people like you, us "The Zune Community" wouldn't be able to do things with our Zunes, that we could do, thanks to you

Everywhere you go there will be leechers. You're doing everyone a favor, but there are those people out there that will demand you release crap for them, demand file formats, and people that are gonna piss you off beyond belief. But... it's the internet. Not much we can do to stop them, so just ignore them. Let them spam with w/e crap they want, and just focus on the comments that are written by someone with a positive IQ.

I would rep you for putting up with this crap... but i need to "spread the rep" b4 I can.

Yes, unfortunately there are a handful of these kids on our community. It's a shame. There is nothing we can do about though. It is just a few bad apples that degrade the whole community itself, but I can assure you that the majority of the community is very welcoming and appreciates all the developers work. If there is a certain member that is constantly bugging you, feel free to PM me or an admin.

man bro, I don't download the games or anything, but i still appreciate the work that you do, because it makes the community as a whole happier. Of course there are going to be people who hate on you and who want a better job done, but I'm sure that there are people who appreciate the work you do just the same. Don't leave, and keep up the good work!

I agree. Society is so screwed up that I come to expect such things. I hate most people that I have met (in person). I try my best to solve everyone's problems the things that I release, but sometimes people are just jerks. For instance, when they whine about how it's not working correctly and I 'need' to fix it for them, even when, unbeknown to them, they are just incompetent and haven't bothered to read the simple instructions on how to properly use the game/application that they are trying to use. Some also seem annoyed that it doesn't work perfectly for them.

However, most people seem appreciative of what I have done so far, and I appreciate that in return.

It would be nice if it was possible to be able to ban someone from a thread that we create, so that we don't have to deal with them, but it's probably not built into the forum functionality.

I think I may have over reacted a bit, I mean its just the internet right? I just take insults personal when I shouldn't. I also realize it is not the whole community just a select part of it.
Therefore even thought I am not the best programmer here, I shall stay here. I would also like to thank people for their support...lol

Edit- Also bigtruck if you see this I will r.i.g. the next release of my heli game and the next release of my phonebook app.

don't think you over reacted, its the internet so these people will say want they want behind the comfort of their little computer screens. and the select few seems to be the members that have less than 10 post and just signed up. i mean i don't post much but it does make me angry how ignorant some people are on her.

p.s. haha i was playing that heli game for a good 25 mins at the summer camp i work at. then all the little kids took it from me and started playing all the games and killed my battery lol...keep up the good work Yo!

All of the developers here are amazing. They do outstanding work and make great games out of thin air. It's really nice to be able to talk with people with that kind of creativity and talent. However I've noticed people criticizing games and saying "wow what a rip-off" if it's something similar to what we've already seen. But you know what, any game is better than no games at all. This board seems to be full of people who are expecting free games for nothing in return. But at the same time, this board is also very harsh on new people and people that don't follow instructions well. Really, it comes down to the environment. I think this board could use some rule changes or just some better ways of handling situations and making sure new people understand how to work the boards. But anyways, The Undead has done great work with his games. I hope that you will still contribute to the biggest and best new feature on the Zune.

There is a difference between having problems following directions (because of inexperience with computers/Zunes, and blatantly ignoring instructions that are nicely laid out for them in front of their faces, then making a post saying that the Zune just restarts when they try to play the game and that they need help. (In most cases the reason it restarts is because they didn't follow the instructions in the first place.)

I just ignore the stupid community at large. This is why a lot of my comments are condescending and includes a lot of "I hate you."s. I'm just awesome like that.

How dare you not make games that adhere to my exact specifications

I know the original Heligame and I have played TheUndeads version (and I do not play all games I can download, in fact, I don't play on my Zunes at all (except for development purposes)).

I think he really got the feeling of the game and even the graphics are as simple as the original. Gameplay is as fun as hell, too. So there is absolutely nothing to complain about the game.

I say this as a developer and I don't think I could do this game much better. Great work Undead.

I guess you just have to learn to ignore those bastards. Wherever you go, there are 95% good people and 5% bad people. The 5% are always the guys who make good places bad. If you ignore them (and the internet is a great place to ignore people), then a bad place becomes a good place again.

Just stay here, ignore the idiots and you are on the cool side of life.
Many people appreciate your work, and that is what should count, not the 2 or 3 guys that still wear diapers.

There are idiots everywhere. If they won't bother trying to be helped by me, than I just ignore them. The worst kind of people are those who don't appreciate what someone else has done for them and a community using up their own free time, which could have been spent doing something else. I mean come on, don't know what a .rar file is? How difficult is it to type in the address of a search engine, look up .rar file, and find out what it is. Then, use same search engine to find a free program to open it up with?

I found this funny since I'm the same way. The only 2 games I have on my zune currently is ZuneHome for testing and Slaam!...to keep my highscores.

Well, I for one thanks all you great game programmers for Zune. Your knowledge and creativity are greatly appreciated by me and a lot of Zuners.

@Undead: that is the nature of the Zune community. Ignore those rotten eggs or just start developing with the iphone SDK and teach those kids a small lesson.

With a small background in Programming (mostly structured programs in Pascal, C++ and Visual Basic) this type of behavior is expected. People just dont want to pay for software. I stoped programming and went to GFx design.
