I think they could both run the same...
maybe the zune better! but I'm not sure.

The Zune can run them better because we have better controls and you can actually make your own Zune games instead of having to buy iPood games.

Why does the comparison matter? Do you have both? Are you buying one over the other depending on the games? Honestly here's my take:
- The Zune is better as a media player. I had a 4GB iPod and when I got my 4GB Zune it blew it away as an MP3 player. - The Zune lets the community make games as it wants. This means more potential games and some chances for really good games. However this also means lots more crap out there to sort through to find good games. - The iPod licenses for its games. This means you are far more likely to find higher quality games (for now anyway) on the iPod. Not to say there aren't impressive Zune games, but the ratio of good to bad is much higher for the iPod. - That said the iPod games are sold; not given away (or most of them as far as I know). Zune games, on the other hand, are all free (for now). Developers may charge at some point in the future, but right now they're all free. - Performance wise, both platforms are pretty comparable. I do prefer the Zune's trackpad/DPad over the scroll wheel of the iPod for gaming, but it's personal preference. |

I think when XNA 3.0 final version is out and there is no need to give away everything (including source code) for free, then indie companies will be attracted by it. Right now there is no benefit in making a game for the Zune so don't expect any professional company to take a shot on it.
But the cool thing is, as mentioned before, we all can do our own games and that is soooo cool. I love developing for the Zune. It's my hobby.

so do you think, if we make very well developed games with great gfx, (like valgards fate) will we be able to sell them on the market place?

I don't know. I think we have to wait what Microsoft makes out of the Zune development. I mean, if they do not open up the possibility to sell Zune games on the marketplace, then we just cannot.
It all depends on MS and the final EULA (maybe they forbid to sell XNA games for Zune, who knows?)

I really hope they do, I mean not only would it bring out alot of great dev. teams, but I wouldnt mind working on my games to make them perfect then sell them, and try to make some bank.

Yeah, but then again, if you are talking about the heligame for example, you need to check copyright infringement first, because its a remake and not your idea... that are the things I don't want to deal with and thats why I do not remake games.

That is true, I would then have to come up with ideas on my own. which wouldn't be hard, I mean I came up with British bulldog. I think for now on I am not going to remake games, but I will come up with original ideas. I already have a few in my head, not to sound crazy but I think for now on I am going to write my ideas in a notebook.

i like zune better because of the contoller. you can only make games on the ipood that use the circle touch saensitivity. wait, you cant make ipood games, lol

just to let anyone else know who has seen these videos of people playing games that don't come for ipod on it, all they do is record a clip of it from another system and either put the video on it and pretend to play it, or convert it to single frames, put it on their ipod, and then scroll through the frames. Any new generation ipods are locked down tight. almost nothing put out by someone other than apple can be put on an ipod, although there are some cases where that is not true.
Also just to clarify, i was specificaly talking about the ipods being developed starting with the nano 2g.

Personally I say that the iPod has alot more games and such.... but the Zune is going to have the best game that i've ever scene on a portable device. The Valgard's Fate Game from Dirk is probably the number one thing on my to wait for list... I mean that games just pure and utter brilliance.
