Default Is there an alternative to visual c#

I tried installing it thinking that all I needed was that 2.6mb file, then it starts installing and it says 0/57mb. My internet is very slow, so I was wondering if there is an alternative that doesn't require downloading while installing, and just installs after you download it?

There is no alternative. It's either download the 2.7MB one that then downloads the rest, or find an ISO download of the whole thing. But it is required for XNA Game Studio 3.0 CTP to be installed, so you'll just have to grin and bear it, I guess.

I already have the xna file, the 40 or so mb one, thanks to standing near my window and taking my neighbors wi-fi signal . But I haven't tried installing that one, and if that one has to download while installing also, then I'm screwed.

i don't think the XNA one downloads to install, but you have to have Visual C# installed or else the XNA installer won't run.

Why don't you just start downloading it before you go to sleep...?

Since that still takes a hell of a long time. For some reason, I remember the conversion of 8 min = 1 mb from back in the day when I had dial up (I've been luckily spoiled with business class Road Runner [and soon, godly fast NCSU interwebz])

Thus, if it is 57mb, then that is 57 * 8 = 456 min / 60 = 7.6 hours. Now, if he wants the MSDN library, add in ~120mb or so, which another 16 hours. However, there is still a chance for the connection to reset or die, which would totally **** up the entire download.

Thus, dial up sucks

I remember it being between 3.5 and 6 minutes per mb... depending on if i was running at 5.5 kbps (avg) or slower at 4... never eight minutes though. And that was on netzero free internet...

Um....so I guess he's not downloading the file then? I mean he can either try setting it to download before he goes to sleep, or not. Why would he need the MSDN library when he just wants XNA to install games with? He hasen't said anything about making his own. And last I checked, people usually sleep for 8 hours, atleast on the weekends.

I've finished downloading everything, the whole downloading process took about 3.5 hours. Now I'm installing, so I'm wondering if I still need to be connected to the internet, and how long is this going to take? It's been about 15 minutes, and its only about half way done, and it doesn't seem to be moving now.

Don't you have a friend that has high speed? Use their connection and put it on a flash drive or burn it to a CD.
