Yea that's all we need is open Wifi so our Zune's can get viruses. :[br]Posted on: December 17, 2006, 09:10:42 PM_________________________________________________

07. All tracks by an artist display
08. Record from the radio feature
09. Digital clock with time and date
10. Ability to play any audio and video file
11. Better audio and video quality (if possible)
12. Ability to read text files (used for lyrics, etc) *
13. Ability to add and delete files without the Zune program

* Would be cool to have a karaoke-like feature with this
The problem with deleting files from the Zune is the Zune software would have to scan the entire hard drive of the Zune everytime it's connected and update the changes, which would would make it much slower on startup.

I think this can be accomplished similar to the FLAGging feature currently on the Zune. You can set a "Delete Flag" when a file is deleted so that when you connect to your PC it knows

Also, there is no need for the Zune app to scan the device to see what has been deleted. Usually when you connect your Zune to your PC, it is scanned (whether it's the entire drive or just a directory hash table) and displays what is on your Zune. For me, at least, I can see the albums fill in over a few seconds once I connect my Zune (I have about 4,000 songs on my device).

I disagree but ok. It would still have to scan the entire drive for any flagged files. Why else would that not have a delete feature on the Zune?

As to the reasoning WHY it's not in there, who knows. However, do this if you are curious. By now I'm sure you have the using the Hard Drive as storage hack implemented. Make sure your Zune App on the PC is shut down. Now, browse to your Zune and delete a few files manually. Now run the Zune app. Do you notice any inconvenient searching that it's doing?

By flagging a file, a pointer to that file can be saved on the device, much like the hash table which indexes all the directores/files on the hard drive. No need to search every song, just read the flagged file info and tell the Zune App that the file(s) was deleted from the device so as not to try and sync it next time (much like when you delete a song off the device from the Zune app, it gets flagged in the app not to be re-synced but does not delete the file from your computer).[br]Posted on: December 18, 2006, 02:15:38 AM_________________________________________________

[br]Posted on: December 18, 2006, 02:08:16 AM_________________________________________________E veryone wanting some kind of internet/MSN chat/aol chat/e-mail access/etc on the Zune as a firmware upgrade...

Have any of you asked yourselves just HOW you would navigate to any of these things? There is no built in keyboard on the device. There is no virtual keyboard on it, and if there were, the screen is not pressure sensitive.

Do you mean to say that you are willing and able to enter a website link or chat with people simply by using the D-pad?

A Zune phone I can see this with...especially if it's built around Crossbow or it's successor (both successors to Windows Mobile 5.0), but it's simply not feasible on the current device.

I'd like to see the volume setting saved when the Zune turns off. Right now it goes back to 7 whenever it turns off - I have to hurry & turn it down when it starts playing so I don't blow my eardrums out...

A clock

A sleep timer, i like to fall asleep to music sometimes, but dont like my thing running until i wake up to shut it off

A mode where only the middle click and back button makes the screen turn back on, so that i can play, pause, go back and forth between songs, etc. without wasting extra battery life(or something like this)

gif support for animations possibly? or is it gif that has some weird ass copyright where im not even suppose to have it on my comp right now?

bigger than 320x240 size video support for use with TV-out

I'll try to keep this within the realm of possiblity.

I would like:
-Left handed video orientation, and Sideways menu globally. (for MP3's, you could set it to use sideways as well.)
-No lag at all (my menus still lag a little bit sometimes, but not often.
-DIVX/XVID SUPPORT
-Wifi sniffer, so you could see what wireless signals near you. Also, it would be neat if you had an app, configurable via computer, that would log into your email for you and let you browse your mail. You wouldn't need to reply, but it would be nice to see this.
-More customization, like text colors and wireless avatars.
-Drag and drop-ability. Maybe with a seperate folder for album art? This would make the Zune in my opinion. I don't see why this is not possible already, the Zune is even set up for it, just locked. Screw the RIAA.
-Custom Equalizer
-Visualizations

I would really like to see chapter support for audio books much like the ipods currently have. I like to listen to audio books when driving home from work and its a real pain having to fast forward and backwards to find the spot i left off at last.

you can drag and drop files from windows explorer directly into the zune software into the little sync box, then all you do his hit start. no need to add to library or anything.

I meant as a portable hard drive, without anything locked or anything. That way, I could just plug it into any computer, and edit the files on it. That would mean I wouldn't have to use the Zune software either.

LOL!
someone mentioned TETRIS! Dude i am soooo for that idea! falling blocks on my zune kicks butt!

anyways,

a clock would be great, there are times when I have my zune, no phone or cellphone and dont know what time it is....

would be cool to be able to sync outlook contacts.

wifi for wifi xfer of music from pc to zune.

more codec support, converting is really inconvenient mr gates!

explorer type - drag n drop file xfer (no need for zune software)

better tag support (i am having trouble with some mp3's)

so in conclusion:
clock
contact sync
wifi
codec support
explorer type drag-n-drop
better tag support

this zune can be so powerful, MS knows it, they are just holding back!

Open WiFi I said before.
People dont be son close mind.
Accesories :-[ :-[ a keyboard for example.
Mini Opera for Zune or something like this.
It will be not easy to browse the internet but they can make apps or even widgets to check ur emial or somthing like that.
Dont be so close mind.
A messenger is indeed a excellent idea.

And about viruses AJJAJAJAJAJAJA it surely make me laugh.
Maybe a ZUNE NOD32 antivirus. LOL

as far as I could tell this wasnt brought up.

I would LOVE a ASPECT CHANGE or something...like instead of the controlls for the video mode being in my right hand they could be in my left...since I write with my left hand o.o and in most game controllers thats where the D-PAD is

My gosh, this has been killing me. THE ZUNE HAS NO CLOCK. Come OOON Microsoft, the device even has an internal clock. Just pop one in the firmware. Please? Another nice thing would be a sleep function and maybe games .

I wish the volume would turn down to about 10 automatically after the device goes into sleep mode. I'll be rocking out one night, Then the next time I turn it on its deafening.

Different "Click" sounds.

Song info only option(No-Album art).

Different Fonts and Font Colors.

Visulations option that display when a song is playing.

Ability to use the Zune as a portable memory card for the Xbox 360.

Password Protect access to Pictures(and maybe videos.) I've taken thousands of photos, But I still only have about 25 images on my Zune in case I loose it.

Password protect device from powering up.

Firmware update to make the screen touch-sensitive. Kidding XP

Would it be possible if they released a firmware to make the Zune into a portable TV? It has a radio... Why not a TV tuner???

Custom Equalizer...I am really sick of the presets, especially since I just bought a ~$60 pair of headphones(Sennheiser CX-300's).

the ability to add songs to a certain playlist while listening to it on the zune
